The Aprilia RXV was a series of four-stroke V-twin off-road motorcycles manufactured by Aprilia starting in 2006. The bike was available in 450 and 550cc. Alongside the RXV, the maker released the SXV series, a dual sport supermoto bike also available in two displacements.
In 2006, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer released the Aprilia RXV 550, an off-road machine capable of efficiently tackling unpaved roads. In addition, it was one of the first off-road motorcycles fitted with a fuel injection system.
Visually, the bike had standard fittings, such as a high-mounted front fender, a small headlight integrated into a small cowl, a single seat, a dual-sided aluminum swingarm, and wire-spoke wheels shod with off-road tires.
The bike was built around a perimeter steel frame with a 45 mm upside-down telescopic fork on the front and an adjustable shock absorber on the rear, delivering excellent handling capabilities.
In the braking department, the bike packed a 270 mm wave disc coupled to a four-piston caliper on the front wheel and a 240 mm wave disc with a dual-piston caliper on the rear, providing optimum stopping power.
In the performance department, the 2006 Aprilia RXV 550 had its soul brought to life by a 549cc four-stroke liquid-cooled V-twin engine that delivered an output power of 70 hp at 13,000 rpm and 66 Nm (49 lb-ft) torque at 10,900 rpm.
