The BMW G 310 R was an entry-level standard machine developed by BMW Motorrad in collaboration with TVS Motor Company of India and first released in 2015. In 2018, the German maker launched the BMW G 310 GS, an adventure machine based on the G 310 R model.
The G 310 R was BMW's first low-end sub-300cc motorcycle sold under their badge. The bike debuted in November 2015 and started selling it in 2018. It was powered by a 313cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine also present on the TVS Apache RR 310 model.
The BMW G 310 R was intended to increase BMW's Presence worldwide, being designed in both India and Europe. The machine's design was handled by BMW in Germany and was built and assembled at TVS's plant in Tamil Nadu, India.
In the visual department, the BMW G 310 R had standard features, such as a single headlight, a one-piece dual seat with passenger grab handles, an up-swept right-side-mounted exhaust system, a side stand, and five-spoke lightweight aluminum wheels.
The bike was built on a tubular steel bridge-type frame with a 41 mm upside-down telescopic fork on the front and an adjustable shock absorber on the rear, offering excellent handling capabilities.
Underneath its fuel tank, the 2017 BMW G 310 R had installed a 313cc four-stroke single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that delivered 34 hp at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm (21 lb-ft) torque at 7,500 rpm.
