The BMW K1300GT was a sport-touring motorcycle manufactured by BMW from 2009. The bike replaced the BMW K1200GT, which was produced from 2003 to 2008. Compared to its predecessor, the K1300GT packed a slightly larger engine with more power on tap.
The BMW K1300GT featured an improved Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA II) system, a conventional single indicator switch, Cruise Control, Anti-Slip Control, and concealed crash bars underneath its full bodywork.
The bike was fitted with standard features, such as a full fairing with a single headlight unit, a small windscreen for better wind protection, a two-piece dual seat with passenger grab handles, side-mounted panniers for extra storage, a right side-mounted single exhaust system, and ten-spoke lightweight wheels.
Underneath its full fairing, the 2009 BMW K1300GT had hidden from plain sight a 1,293cc four-stroke liquid-cooled four-cylinder engine with a fuel injection system in charge, boasting 160 hp with a peak force at 9,000 rpm and 136 Nm (100 lb-ft) torque at 8,000 rpm.
The engine power was transferred to a six-speed manual gearbox with a wet multi-plate clutch and a final shaft drive that spun the rear wheel to a top speed of 252 kph (157 mph).
A Duolever suspension softened the wheel on the front end and was stopped by two 320 mm discs with four-piston calipers. In contrast, the rear wheel was cushioned by a Paralever suspension and controlled by a single 295 mm disc and a dual-piston caliper.
