BMW presented the new 2015 S 1000 RR at the 2014 Intermot Motorcycle Fair in Cologne, Germany. The S 1000 RR is a superbike that debuted in 2009 and was considered the best-equipped and most powerful bike built by BMW. In 2015, at the time of its release, the new model entered a new generation having major updates, unlike the 2013 model.
The 2015 model came with Race ABS as standard, an engine increase in output of 6 hp from 193 hp to 199 hp, a weight reduction of 4 kg (8.8 lbs), and was designed to be more user-friendly. A contributing factor to the weight reduction and increase in performance was the new exhaust which was 3 kg (6.6 lbs) lighter than the older model exhaust.
The bike featured a new electrical system and a more powerful sensor box and was fitted with a new and smaller battery weighing around 1 kg (2 lbs) less.
The 2015 BMW S 1000 RR takes its power from the 999cc four-stroke liquid-cooled engine that works head-to-head with a six-speed manual gearbox giving an output of 199 hp at 13.000 rpm and 113 Nm (83 lb-ft) of torque at 10,500 rpm.
The bike was available in three color schemes such as Racing Red with Light White, Black Storm Metallic, and BMW Motorsport color scheme.
