The 2023 KTM 890 SMT returned to the table without compromises in a sleeker, sharper, and sportier package. The bike also came with several technical features and additions that extended its touring capabilities.
The 2023 890 SMT packed a CroMo steel frame with a light, agile structure that improved stability. The rear shock absorber was inclined to accommodate the longer swingarm and reduced the seat height, offering a forward-inclined riding position.
The bike featured three riding modes, including Rain, Street, and Sport, and an optional Track mode allowing the ride to choose between 10 levels of throttle and traction control settings.
The bike's stopping power was achieved by four-piston calipers with two 320 mm discs on the front wheel and a 260 mm disc with a dual-piston caliper on the rear wheel. The braking capabilities were enhanced by Cornering ABS and Supermoto ABS, combining both systems for excellent stopping performance.
The engine was a stressed prisoner in a Chromium Molybdenum Steel frame that housed a 43 mm WP APEX telescopic fork on the front and a WP APEX shock absorber on the rear, offering excellent suspension performance and handling.
The 2023 KTM 890 SMT half-naked machine packed an 889cc four-stroke parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine with a fuel injection system on top, boasting no less than 105 hp at 8,000 rpm and 100 Nm (74 lb-ft) torque at 6,500 rpm.
