Custom Hollywood Movie Car for $41,000!
Custom Hollywood Movie Car for $41,000!-December 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:10:18

Lights! Camera! Auction! has a car from a movie you've never heard of, and while it's ready for its close up, it may have spent too much time in make up.

Yesterday, we had a from a by-gone era that came with a price which made 79% of you say buh-bye to it. Today we've got another pentastar player, but this one is wearing a disguise. Top billed as a 300C, this Phantom wannabe has had a Hollywood makeover, giving it the look of a Rolls Royce in the same way Frank Langella looked like Nixon on film.

If movies have taught us anything, it's that orphans are typically sad, but plucky. Today, Nice…

And on film is where this car got its start. Built for the movie and apparently unneeded for potential sequels, this 300 could go straight to your driveway at the same time the flick goes direct to DVD. The suicide rear doors and pinching-a-loaf-squint of the headlamps bring a visual interest to the staid gangster lines of the V8 rear-driver. Despite those styling cues, the Cinemascope-big overlapping Rs on the steering wheel will be a constant reminder that you're driving something from the prop department, and not the real deal

But what really sets this car apart - what alone may make it worth the forty one grand ticket price - is the itself. Written in blue all-caps, and in impeccable , it brings new meaning to salesmanship. Where else will you find choice scripting such as:

IF YOU WANT TO OWN A CAR THAT BRINGS MORE ATTENTION THAN EVEN $400K EXOTIC CARS, THIS ONE IS IT, AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO SPEND $400,000.00 USD. TO DO IT.

or:

IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU READ ALL THIS, IT WILL ONLY TAKE YOU 4 MINUTES, IF YOU DON'T YOU CAN BE MISSING OUT IN BUYING A COLLECTOR FILM CAR

So, there you have it; a real live Hollywood movie car, and an attention getter as well, for all you shrinking violets. And you can jump over it! But is all that paparazzi-luring panel work a bit over the top? And does the $41,000 asking price get a thumbs up from you reviewers? Or, is that a price that'll make you wait to see it on basic cable?

You decide!

The Lexus LFA Is The Most Misunderstood Modern Supercar
The Lexus LFA Is The Most Misunderstood Modern Supercar
In the briefest of moments, while while firing off a gear change at 9000 RPM with the banshee-like V10 wailing in my ears, I caught a glimpse of that L-shaped Lexus logo on the steering wheel. And as I gripped the wheel to wrest the car through the winding road,...

How About This Clean 1991 Audi V8 Quattro Survivor for $19,499?
How About This Clean 1991 Audi V8 Quattro Survivor for $19,499?
The ad for today’s Audi says it’s one of only 53 originals and that it could be one of the only ones left. That makes it a survivor, but will its price prove it to be the eye of the tiger? Chris Brown may have sung Don’t Judge Me, but...

For $22,500 (Reduced!), How About This 1967 VW Type 2 Panel Pop Top?
The original Volkswagen Type 2 gained the nickname “Splitty” for its aerodynamically intended split windshield. Our contender panel carries that sobriquet, and a lot more, but would you expect its price to make it sell lickity split? Based on decades of SciFi movie indoctrination, today we expect Unidentified Flying Objects...

For $89,999, Is Chris Brown’s 2004 Lamborghini Gallardo The Last Word In Celebrity Customs?
Celebrity-owned cars can command a premium for their provenance, that is when the celebrity isn’t found out to be a dick. Today’s custom Gallardo is celebrity-owned, but is it one worth celebrating? We’ve had two French cars here this week, and the results have been split. Monday’s Renault GTA dropped...

For $25,995, This Kelmark GT Is Your Complete Kit Car
Ferrari’s 246 Dino only came with six cylinders, which isn’t all that many if you ask me. Today’s Kelmark GT rocks two more than that, and it’s about the tenth the cost of the real deal. Will that make its price seem like it’s a deal too? Hippies (piss shiver)....
