2024-02-19 EST 22:11:16

British automaker has a , but hasn’t actually been in motorsport for more than 10 years. That streak of inaction will end this season, since TVR announced that it’s back to race Le Mans once again—and not just Le Mans. Its car will race the entire season.

TVR, the company that makes the with a 500-horsepower V8 and a manual transmission, Thursday that it’s entering the WEC Le Mans Prototype 1 class with Rebellion Racing for the series’ 2018-2019 “Super Season.” That means the will at least have another group to race against this year, after .

That was , though.

TVR posted a pixelated teaser of its new race car on Twitter Wednesday and said an official announcement would come Thursday, only to soon after. It wasn’t clear why the company deleted the tweet, but looking back, the teaser doesn’t look anything like the car it unveiled officially:

TVR and Rebellion Racing, which has in the WEC LMP2 class for years, will be on track publicly this weekend at at Circuit Paul Ricard in France. The car is called the R13, and two of them are entered in the season that includes the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June, according to . Only one car will be at the test in France, with six drivers taking turns.

The announcement didn’t say much about the race car itself, but we’ll see how it performs soon enough in testing this weekend. Regardless, it looks good, and looking good is always a plus—no matter how you’re actually doing on track.

This Mitsubishi-Powered McLaren F1 Hillclimb Racer Is The King Of Forza-Style Engine Swaps
Who needs a BMW-sourced V12 when you can shove a 600-horsepower Mitsubishi 4G63 in the engine bay? This de-stroked Mitsu engine revs to over 9500 rpm, and powers KOMVET Racing’s hillclimb car to tremendous pace. It doesn’t hurt that the whole thing is carbon fiber and weighs just 1565...
