2022 Porsche Macan: What Do You Want to Know?
2022 Porsche Macan: What Do You Want to Know?-February 2024

2022 Porsche Macan S

Porsche has updated its best-selling for 2022. While it’s an SUV, don’t let that fool you. It drives exactly how a Porsche should.

Porsche brought me out to Malibu to flog the Macan through the local canyon roads. And I flogged the hell out of it. So what do you want to know about this SUV masquerading as a sports car?

The whole Macan lineup has been updated for ‘22. Updates mostly center around styling and equipment updates. All models come standard with AWD and a seven-speed PDK transmission. Those get bolted to a choice of two engines. The base engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 with 261 horsepower, a 13-horsepower increase over last year’s model. This engine is to the one that’s used in the , but Porsche would rather we didn’t talk too much about that. The other engine is a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 that you can have with either 375 hp or 434 hp.

Styling changes outside amount to bigger intakes on the front facia, side blades on the doors, standard LED headlights, and a black rear diffuser. It all comes across as subtle but different enough that you notice it.

2022 Porsche Macan T

The biggest news is the addition of the trim. “T” stands for Touring at Porsche, which means better handling agility and sporty styling. Slotting between the base Macan and Macan S, it’s a blend of both: Base engine but S driving dynamics.

2022 Porsche Macan S Interior

Inside has seen a redesign as well. Porsche has a habit of having way too many buttons on their dash. That’s changed, but not necessarily for the better: Nearly every button is now a touch-sensitive haptic switch. It comes across as more smooth looking, but the lack of physical buttons might not work for some people.

So what do you want to know about the Macan? Let me know in the comments and I’ll address what I can.

For $7,500, Go To L
BMW have always produced sporty cars with a nod towards luxury, while competitor Mercedes Benz have staked their claim on luxury cars that're just a little bit sporty. Today's L7 once tried to out Mercedes Mercedes, but will you find its current price to be simply outrageous? Do you remember...

For $78,500, Italia So
Hybrid cars didn't always mean ICE/electric drivetrains, that term was previously applied to furrin cars with American thumpers. Today's Intermeccanica is a prime example of such a hybrid, but is its price too high to warrant a bid? What better way to start out the year than with a decisive...

For $48,000, This Is A Serious Syncro
The seller of today's Westfalia Syncro is serious about its price. With a flat six out of a Subaru SVX, the Vanagon itself is pretty serious, but is that price really a joke? Speaking of jokes, you've no doubt heard the one about the horse that walks into a bar...

For $5,900, Is This A Ghia Monster?
If the VW Beetle was Susan Boyle, then the Karmann Ghia was her lovely voice. Today's drop top Ghia is said to have had its own makeover, but will its price have you saying aww, come on, Ghia? Rarity and obscurity are related in context, but being one rather than...

For $375,000, Is 13 A Lucky Number?
As 2012 rapidly ebbs from existence it's time to contemplate resolutions for 2013. It's also time to consider this Jaguar XJ13 replica, and whether its price is worth resolving to pay. One, Harry Nilsson once opined, is the loneliest number that you could every do. As such, Sir William Lyons'...
