2022 Porsche Macan: What Do You Want to Know?
2022 Porsche Macan: What Do You Want to Know?-November 2024

2022 Porsche Macan S

Porsche has updated its best-selling for 2022. While it’s an SUV, don’t let that fool you. It drives exactly how a Porsche should.

Porsche brought me out to Malibu to flog the Macan through the local canyon roads. And I flogged the hell out of it. So what do you want to know about this SUV masquerading as a sports car?

The whole Macan lineup has been updated for ‘22. Updates mostly center around styling and equipment updates. All models come standard with AWD and a seven-speed PDK transmission. Those get bolted to a choice of two engines. The base engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 with 261 horsepower, a 13-horsepower increase over last year’s model. This engine is to the one that’s used in the , but Porsche would rather we didn’t talk too much about that. The other engine is a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 that you can have with either 375 hp or 434 hp.

Styling changes outside amount to bigger intakes on the front facia, side blades on the doors, standard LED headlights, and a black rear diffuser. It all comes across as subtle but different enough that you notice it.

2022 Porsche Macan T

The biggest news is the addition of the trim. “T” stands for Touring at Porsche, which means better handling agility and sporty styling. Slotting between the base Macan and Macan S, it’s a blend of both: Base engine but S driving dynamics.

2022 Porsche Macan S Interior

Inside has seen a redesign as well. Porsche has a habit of having way too many buttons on their dash. That’s changed, but not necessarily for the better: Nearly every button is now a touch-sensitive haptic switch. It comes across as more smooth looking, but the lack of physical buttons might not work for some people.

So what do you want to know about the Macan? Let me know in the comments and I’ll address what I can.

At $24,995, Could The Seller Of This 1978 Cadillac Seville Elegante Be Serious?
The seller of today’s Seville calls it a “no hit car” indicating an accident-free existence. It’s got low miles and high class, but will its price prove a hit with you? You say tomato and I say tomato, you say kit car and I say component car… let’s call the...

The Fiat 124 Spider Is The Ultimate Italian-American Car
You may not look at the Mazda Miata-based and say, “Viva l’italia!” But why would you? It’s a Japanese car sold by an Italian-American company. But when I drove one for the first time, something strange happened. I think I found the automotive embodiment of myself: energetic, easy to beat...

For $20,000, Could This 1983 Bremen Sebring Totally Raise The Roof?
You’ve heard of Quattroportes and Monopostos but how about a monoporte? Today’s Bremen Sebring lets you pop its top to get inside. Let’s see if this rare component car should have buyers popping for its price. On first pass, forty-five hundred for yesterday’s seemed like a slam dunk. Then reality...

For $4,500, Could This 1996 Chevy Corvette Be Worth The Gamble?
Today’s C4 ‘Vette is described as having ONE MILE on a set of rebuilt heads. It has a LOT more than that in total, and a kind of sketchy history, but will its price make it all worthwhile? Fully 60-percent of you were not onboard with the seller’s price for...

For $12,000, How About This Amazing 1970 VW Custom Coffin?
It’s been said that it’s not the cough that carries you off, but the coffin they carry you off in. You might get carried off with today’s custom Vee-Dub, but will its price still bury its chances? Have you ever spent an inordinate amount of time trying to decipher the...

What The 2017 Porsche 911 GTS Is Missing Is Fun
You have high expectations for an “enthusiast-spec” Porsche, and the lives up to a lot of them. Hell, it steps to twice the speed limit in as long as it took you to read this introduction. But for all its power and precision, the car doesn’t have much personality. (:...
