In 2012, Ducati stepped up a bit with the release of the 1199 Panigale R, the revised model for 2013.
They took the S model and improved it with race-derived elements and lighter materials. Ducati used lightened internal engine material, including titanium con-rods, and added a full-system race exhaust and ECU. The 2013 Panigale R was dressed in carbon fiber external parts and had 500 rpm more added to the rev counter. With the track-only race exhaust and weight reduction, the R went down to 165 kg (364 lbs), an increased power up to 202 hp, and an estimated top speed of 325 kph (202 mph).
The 2013 model is powered by the same 1198cc Superquadro L-Twin liquid-cooled engine, and without the race exhaust, the Panigale R makes the same amount of power as the other models. Namely 195 hp at 10,750 rpm and a torque of 132 Nm (97 lb-ft) at 9,000 rpm.
The 1199 Panigale R also comes with an aluminum monocoque frame that uses the engine as a stressed member. It comes at the front with Ohlins NIX30 43 mm, a fully adjustable USD fork, and a fully adjustable Ohlins TTX36 unit at the rear. In the braking department, Brembo took responsibility for the two 330 mm semi-floating discs at the front and one 245 mm disc at the rear.
In 2022, the 2013 Ducati 1199 Panigale R was for sale with prices starting from $20,000.
