The Panigale family from Ducati, named so after the small town of Borgo Panigale where the company is based, started to gain family members. The first one was the base 1199 model introduced in 2011. In 2012 Ducati welcomes to the family the 1199 Panigale S, which came to be the most search-for motorcycle in House of Bologna.
At its core, the Panigale S was driven by the 1199cc four-stroke V-Twin liquid-cooled engine, building up a power of 195 hp at 10.750 rpm and delivering a torque on 132 Nm (97 lb-ft) at 9,000 rpm through a six-gearbox.
The 1199 Panigale S comes with an aluminum monocoque frame and with a more race-oriented suspension. At the front sits a 43 mm Ohlins NIX30 fully adjustable upside-down, tin-coated fork, and a fully adjustable monoshock with progressive linkage at the back. At the front wheel are two Brembo 330 mm discs and a single 245 mm disc at the back.
Some of the options for Ducati 1199 Panigale S are the Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Quick Shift (DQS), ride by wire with three riding modes, and an Ohlins steering damper.
In 2022, the Ducati 1199 Panigale was for sale on the used market with a price ranging from $12,500 to $15,500.
