A Biker’s Adventure with the Hyundai Creta

Hyundai Creta

Nilesh Dhumal is a pioneering sportsman - being among the select few who participate in the sport of downhill mountain biking. He has been instrumental in helping grow the popularity of the sport in India by representing India at Asian level championships and participating and promoting downhill mountain biking races across India.

Downhill mountain biking races are held on natural hills with tracks artificially altered to make the racing exciting and challenging. Naturally getting to these locations is not easy - one needs a spacious, powerful and capable vehicle to access these places. What does Nilesh use to get to these remote, and often difficult to reach places? His other trusty steed is a Hyundai Creta diesel AT.

Not only can the Creta swallow Nilesh’s MTB without the need to remove its front wheel, but it also has more than enough leftover space to carry all his support equipment, clothes and other paraphernalia.

Hyundai Creta Bootspace

The 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel motor in the Creta develops a healthy 113bhp of maximum power and 250Nm of peak torque. Paired to a smooth-shifting 6-speed automatic transmission, this powertrain is both powerful and comfort-enhancing on those long drives to and from these events.

Tackling difficult terrain is a breeze in the New Hyundai Creta, thanks to the off-road driving modes available. Nilesh usually uses the mud-terrain mode to get through slush-filled roads en-route the next downhill mountain biking trail/track.

On the highway, the Creta’s massive 10.25-inch horizontally-oriented touchscreen has a crisp display for google maps (though Apple CarPlay). The 8-speaker Bose high-performance surround sound system helps keep an uplifted mood regardless of the performance on track. The massive panoramic sunroof makes the cabin feel even airier, especially on cloudy days.

Last but not least, the Creta reassures Nilesh by offering a host of safety features - including six airbags, ABS+EBD, traction control and a tyre pressure monitoring system. You can watch Nilesh’s adventure with the Hyundai Creta below. Click here to know more about the Hyundai Creta.
