in Kershaw, South Carolina, is up for sale. If you've ever wanted to own a road course and karting track, now is the time to do it.

A group of enthusiasts and racers originally built the facility on a former World War II-era base in 1999. Since then, it has hosted everything from NASCAR testing to the 24 Hours of LeMons, and will host the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Nationals on the kart track next year.

I've been accused of living at our local track, so clearly, someone who lives in South Carolina needs to seize this opportunity and put an apartment somewhere by the garages.

Either that or we should take a cue from its group-founding and do a group buy. Who's with me? I've got tree-fiddy, and I need a garage, please.

The facility, which includes a 2.27 mile road course and a relatively new 0.7 mile kart track, is decent financial shape, per Managing Director David Palmer:

The past 15 years have been a lot of fun but our ownership group is at a different life stage now and we think it's time to hand the keys over to the next generation. The facility continues to be financially sound so, while bittersweet, it's our goal to find the right person or group to further develop this regional asset.

The "kink" at CMP is the high-speed corner that everyone brags about, claiming that it takes a leap of faith to get right.

"Carolina Motorsports Park allows drivers of all skill levels to practice, make mistakes and tune up in a safe environment," said retired NASCAR driver Ricky Rudd. "I have spent a lot of time there doing just that and given it's the only course of its kind in the Carolinas, I think it's the best kept secret around."

The group of owners doesn't just want to find a buyer, but the right buyer—a promising sign for both area track junkies and future LeMons parades alike.
