Blip: What The Hell Does "Sport Size" Mean?-February 2024

The Chrysler Cordoba was many things, or, depending on how you think about it, few things, but I’m not sure any of those things was a thing called “sport size” because, well, that’s not A Thing. I guess they meant it was sort of small? Which, really, it wasn’t? Also, it wasn’t terribly sporty, either, at least not in the way most people think of that word, which clearly didn’t stop the ad agency’s copywriters.

Anyway, happy Monday.

The New York City Subway Will Soon Run All Day And All Night Again

Blip: It's Heavy!
If you read that ad copy for this 1972 Oldsmobile Delta 88 coupe, it’s pretty revealing of how much what carmakers say about their cars has changed. I’m not sure any carmaker would just volunteer “it’s heavy” as a key selling, point. I also like that an awful lot...

What Are The Best Car Letters?
What Are The Best Car Letters?
Volkswagen recently debuted the somewhat sporty , which is an affront. This thing doesn’t even have a Hemi! Perhaps the target audience of the all-electric crossover is not the same as those in the market for a 1967 to 1971 Plymouth GTX. It might not even be the same...
