Buy This Beautiful Bronze Lotus Elise Totaled Over Bumper Scratch
Buy This Beautiful Bronze Lotus Elise Totaled Over Bumper Scratch-August 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:09:48

The is a great little sports car and has been on my bucket list for some time, but I’ve never imagined being able to afford one. It turns all I need to wait for is one with a slight scratch and crack in a bumper, like this 2006 Elise with a salvage title.

The car is listed at $24,000 on eBay, which is a lot cheaper than most of the other Elises floating around for sale.

Why is it so cheap? Well, if you look closely at images of the front of the car, you’ll notice some of that beautiful bronze paintwork is missing.

That scratch is also a very small crack, which would be a relatively easy fix on most other cars. But the 2006 Lotus Elise isn’t just any other car. It’s special. It’s so special that most of the front bodywork is one big fiberglass clamshell, which costs so much to replace that even a little crack is enough for the insurance company to total the entire car, at least according to the seller, via .

That means that this Elise for sale has a rebuilt savage title, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t worth your love. It just means it’s almost unfairly cheapened, which is good if you’re buying but bad if you’re selling.

Beyond the slight body damage and excellent bronze color, this Elise has 68,406 miles on the clock, and to make an offer or buy it at $24,000. The good news is the blemish is on the passenger side, so if you park just right, you’ll probably never have to face it.

I don’t care that this bad boy is totaled. I’m happy to give it lots of love anyway.

It may be hard to fathom, but during its 6-year dalliance here Yugo sold over one hundred and forty thousand cars in the U.S.. For today's contest we have eight Yugos - one for each side of an octagon. But will their package price prove a similarly shaped stop sign?...

For $1,400, This Is Why The Eagle Is Our National Bird
There's a trope going around politics these days regarding American Exceptionalism, the expected given that we are in some way better than everybody else on the planet. While that may be the ultimate in hubris, today's AMC Eagle Rock Hopper is evidence in its favor. The question is, will you...

For $1,500, You’re In The Army Now
In his seminal work on what humans find attractive about babies and juvenile animals - (pdf) - Stephen Jay Gould implies that it's the proportion of head to body size that is key. At the other end of the spectrum, today's custom combat caprice has cartoon-sized tires, but will its...

Volkswagen may not have invented the hot hatch, but with the introduction of the Rabbit-based GTI they certainly refined its execution. Today's '83 edition has seen further refinement with the addition of a 16V mill. Its price however, may not be so fine. If you have a half-way interesting car,...

Lockheed's SR-71 was conceived at the company's Burbank California Skunkworks. Today's 1983 280ZX is similarly turbine-powered, but does its price simply stink? Speaking of stink, a field of slowly decaying Yugos must offer a pungent nose, and for an overwhelming 88% of you, spending nearly thirteen grand on was something...
