Corvette Sells As Fast As It Looks-May 2024

Despite low production and inventory, the Chevrolet Corvette topped a list mostly made up of SUVs by being the fastest-selling car last month. According to , a search site, this is the second month in a row the Corvette led the pack.

According to the data, the Corvette averaged only 13.1 days at an average transaction price of $86,581. My own search using third-party car search sites like Cargurus and Autotrader netted only 291 Corvettes in the entire country. The ’20 or ’21 Corvette isn’t even available for search using Chevy’s inventory tool.

That Corvettes can be found on dealer lots at all is pretty amazing, considering the production hassles that have plagued the C8. A triple threat of supplier issues, the pandemic and a UAW strike has kept inventory low. This has created pent-up demand.

The rest of the fastest-seller list is surprising in that there is literally only one other vehicle that’s not a truck in the top 10 on the list: the Lexus IS. The IS took both the second and 17th spots on a list mostly made up of luxury SUVs, crossovers and trucks. People want the more powerful engine: The V6-powered IS350 needs only 14.5 to go from dealer to customer, while the four-cylinder IS300 sits on lots for 24.9 days. The top 10 cars:

Chevy Corvette 13.1 days at an average price of $86,581Lexus IS350 14.5 at an average price of $48,429Lexus RX450h 15.2 days at an average price of $58,647Cadillac Escalade 16.6 at an average price of $99,761Kia Telluride 17.0 days at an average price of $45,573Toyota RAV4 Hybrid 19.5 days at an average price of $35,035Toyota Tacoma 20.2 days at an average price of $37,401BMW X7 20.3 days at an average price of $93,602Mercedes GLS 20.5 days at an average price of $$95,081Toyota Sienna 21.5 days at an average price of $42,607

Dead last on the list? The Genesis GV80. I thought this might have something to do with low inventory, because Hyundai/Kia is notorious for either not stocking enough of a new or interesting model or taking forever for a new model to make it to the dealer. Go ahead and try searching for a Sonata N Line or K5 GT.

But there are more GV80s in the country, at 1,487, than there are Corvettes. There are also lists on the site of the fastest-selling used cars and cars that sold slowly. So if you’re in the market or just curious, these lists could be helpful.

Civil War hero and besotted president Ulysses S Grant graces the front the U.S. $50. A less notorious drinker is today's Audi 50, but will it take too many Grants to bring it home? Holy cheese whiz, I thought Tuesday's vote was close, but yesterday's 50/50 split was tighter than...

We joined the hundreds of luminaries who have sampled the all-electric before it arrives in December. It's an impressive piece of software baked into an expensive compact car. Here's how the Leaf turns driving into an app. Automakers have futzed with electricity as a source of power for over a...

The Lamborghini Diablo is one sexy beast, and may even act as an automotive aphrodisiac. While today's contender isn't the real deal, neither is its price, but does that make it more of a roofie? Pharmaceuticals may have been needed to generate much Beetlemania over yesterday's - and yes, mea...

Tarzan was a swinger, but he left the driving up to Jane. Today's Dodge Dart is also a Swinger, but it eschews the verdancy of the jungle for drag strip Christmas trees. Tarzan and not withstanding, swingers are not usually positive role models. Sure, it might be fun to slip...

Brembo, Dinan, BBS, today's E36 M3 reads like a who's who of automotive aftermarket nobility. The question though, is whether you think this brand-conscious BMW's price is a king's ransom? There was no dodging the Nice Price for yesterday's , and a blistering 88% (I rounded up) of you expressed...
