Now that we’ve got and in delivery services across America, it seemed only inevitable that a cutesy electric campervan would soon follow. Now, a Detroit-based startup has delivered just that with its new camper based on platform.
The company, called Grounded, first burst onto the camper scene last year when it unveiled van. Now, it’s switched allegiances and has created the Grounded G2 camper around GM’s Brightdrop platform.
The G2 is quite the improvement . The new Grounded van is capable of covering 250 miles per charge, which is well over the 108 you would be able to manage in the Ford model. That extra range is courtesy of a 165kWh battery that feeds power to all four wheels
The G2 also packs in a 640 watt that can help power the van or its internal gadgetry.
And speaking of gadgetry, there’s a lot of that too. Inside each, you’ll be able to install and there are electronic appliances including an induction stove and a fridge. Yes I count an induction stove as a neat gadget.
As well as a sick stove, the living quarters also have space for a queen-sized bed and bench seating surrounding a flip up table. There’s also a kitchen sink with running water, and a small prep area for all .
Inside the van, you’re also treated to a “dry-flush” toilet and Grounded has fitted all the equipment you need for a refreshing outdoor shower. Finally, in terms of camping kit, there’s a “garage” space under the bed that’s accessible from the rear, and for all your hopes and dreams.
If all this sounds like your idea of camping heaven, then good news! It’s already available to order and production is underway as we speak. Grounded hopes to begin deliveries of the G2 later this month, with prices for the electric camper starting at $195,000. If that’s the right price for you, you can now for $100 and Grounded will reach out to start designing your camper soon.
