The first 5-door Mini Cooper has come off the production line at Mini’s Oxford factory in England.
The5-door Mini is an all-new product and aims to broaden the brand’s appeal. This product is also part of the massive R 1.3 billion investment across BMW Group UK’s factories and facilities.
The 5-door Mini will be going on sale later in 2014 and I’m confident it will see a South African introduction by the end of the 2014.The new car is built on an all-new platform and this allows more models and different varieties to be built more efficiently.
BMW Group Business Secretary, Vince Cable said: The launch of the all-new 5-door MINI is a further boost for the UKs manufacturing sector, and will help to secure jobs in Oxford and Swindon as part of BMWs £750 million investment programme in the UK. BMWs continued commitment and investment in the UK underlines the continuing success story that is UK automotive manufacturing.”
