For $13,000, This 2006 BMW 530 xiT Could Be Your All-Weather Friend-August 2024

Do you have an exit strategy? How about an xiT strategy? Today's BMW E61 might make any exit more fun, but will its price have you saying, exit, stage left?

As perhaps was expected, yesterday's warmed the cockles of many a heart, as beloved as these rides are. Its price also received a warm reception, and in fact the car came away with an impressive 75% Nice Price win for its parsimonious asking.

Just as you may never discover how many licks it takes to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a…

You know, that Volvo was liked by many, and most likely could be afforded by most. Today's candidate will probably check one of those boxes as well, let's just see which one that is.

While probably lacking in cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels, this i is still kitted with quite a few of our favorite things. Let's have a look at a few of them, shall we?

First off, this is the Touring model of BMW's mid-aughts 5-series, hence the xiT, however the T is silent on the actual model badge. Still, that makes this an E61 rather than an E60, and while one may be the loneliest number, here that one comes with six. Actually it comes with two sixes as it's powered by the 268-horse 3-litre N53 straight six, and comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Let me just reiterate that, this is a stick shift longroof with a herd of ponies under its hood. Oh, and the final little bit to really make you cream your jeans? It's all-wheel drive. *mike drop*

Okay, sure this edition of the 5 has those dumb Dame Edna glasses headlights, but I think that overall the Touring is a far more handsome car than the sedan, and in fact could be considered pretty darn good looking.

This one is black over grey leather and is claimed in the ad to have too many features to list. I don't know if that's 100% accurate, however. I mean it's not like the seller needs to calculate π to six hundred decimal places or anything. Work with me, people!

The ad does note that the car comes with the double row moonroof, adaptive headlights, sport seats, privacy screens behind tinted glass, five-spoke factory alloys wrapped in reasonably fresh meats, and nav in the dash. Everything - exterior and interior - additionally looks to be in excellent shape.

On the other side of the coin there is the mileage, which is kind of high. This BMW is probably a ball to drive and this one has been balling for 151,000 miles. Of course, there's been some maintenance done to the car over the course of those miles, and the ad notes a new fuel pump, water pump, and brakes having been replaced in the last year.

The seller notes in this ad that the current $13,000 asking is an eight-grand drop from an earlier attempt to sell the car, and that the reason for its being offered at all is because his corral is a little too full.

Let's help him cull the herd by opining on whether that thirteen grand price is fair or not. What do you think, is this seemingly clean and capable E61 worth that kind of scratch? Or, is this an xiT without an exit?

You decide!

Denver , or go if the ad disappears.

The CIM-10 Bomarc surface-to-air missile was a lunatic collaboration between the Michigan Aerospace Research Center and Boeing. A rocket/ramjet hybrid of the rip-roaring postwar military-industrial complex, the Bomarc was designed to hurtle itself into an advancing formation of Tupolevs at 2 1/2 times the speed of sound and detonate a...

While advanced in design, Fiat's X1/9 was ephemeral in its execution, and few have stood the test of time. Today's '78 however has not only passed time's test, it went back for some alloy-rim extra credit. It turns out big willie style was a page of the Karma Sutra that...

You don't have to be Elmer Fudd to like hunting rabbits, and today's beige bunny seems worthy of the chase. But will its price make you go hu-hu-hu-hu-hu-hu-hu-hu? In an odd confluence of forces of nature, when VW made the switch from air-cooling for their engines to H2O, they chose...

When it comes to automotive artistic expression, Chevy's Suburban offers a generous canvas. Today's custom '98 may be more urban than suburban, but is its price a work of art? Poor Steve Saleen, first he chooses a monastic haircut that only serves to highlight his male pattern baldness, and then...

Half-baked, half-assed, half-hearted, there's lots of negatives associated with the image of halves. However, as today's 1970 and a half Z-28 proves, being awesome is half the battle. Nearly half of you yesterday found the to be Nice Price, while nearly half of you thought the updates were just polishing...

Few people get all hot and bothered by the Toyota Camry, as driving one is much like eating plain oatmeal. . . from a beige bowl. The seller of today's '94 Coupe seems to feel differently, but is it just its TRD supercharger that is pressurizing his passion? It's generally...
