For $56,500, Could This Autographed Hendrick-Modded 2010 Chevy Camaro SS Sign You Up?
For $56,500, Could This Autographed Hendrick-Modded 2010 Chevy Camaro SS Sign You Up?-February 2024

For some people an autograph book is good enough. For those for which it is not, I present you today’s Camaro, which has the signatures of its modder and its famous intended first owner. Let’s see if that all makes its price worth signing up for.

Man, it’s been a sad run of Crackalicious cars and trucks here this past week. I don’t quite know what to make of it. Have you all turned into Scrooge McDuck or something? I mean even yesterday’s clean and likely solid transportation couldn’t muster anything better than a 54% Crack Pipe loss, and that was for only twenty-eight hundred bucks!

Okay, today we’re swinging for cheap seats with a very expensive car. Hopefully while pricy, it will also prove a prudent investment at that price.

Here is a that has been modded by Hendrick Performance with a bunch of Calloway bits and which was originally intended as a ride for none other than Kelley Earnhardt, co-owner of JR Motorsports and daughter of legendary mustache wearer and race car driver, Dale Earnhardt. This is claimed to be numero uno out of a series of 11 cars massaged by Hendricks, and this is signed by Rick himself AND both Kelley and Dale Jr. Shee-it!

The mods include a supercharger, short-throw six-speed stick shift, suspension upgrades, fancy wheels and expensive-looking tires along with a body kit that looks like Speed Racer finally upgraded the Mach Five.

The seller, who apparently isn’t either Kelley or Dale Jr, says the car has a clean title and is “Brand New every single way.” That being said, there are 2,300 miles on the clock, so it probably doesn’t still have that new car smell. The odor that may have replaced that is Sharpie as that’s what it looks was used to tag both the headrests on the red leather seats, right on top of their SS embroidery. No sweaty bald guys or Jheri Curl in here, please!

Hendrick Performance badging denoting this as CAMARO 001 completes the bonafides inside.

So, it’s got a bunch of show, but does it back that up with copious quantities of go? The ad says there’s 650-bhp to play with, while other sources quote a substantially lower 582. Either way it’s something that’ll need to be experienced first hand to tell. I’ll give you an hour.

You probably don’t need an hour to figure out that this is a unique and interesting Camaro, and it will take far less than that to vote on whether its $56,500 price tag is just as intriguing. Still, you’ll need to make the effort.

What do you think, does its race family history, and Hendricks highjacks make this modded Camaro worth that kind of cash? Or, is this autographed car’s price a sign to run away?

You decide!

St Louis MO , or go if the ad disappears.

H/T to Cory Griffon for the hook up!

The Best And Worst Cars I’ve Driven This Year
The Best And Worst Cars I’ve Driven This Year
It's been a real juicy peach of a year for sports cars. And I don't just mean the ones that feel like you're driving with oven mitts on. I mean the ones that have the crackly goodness a sports car should have. And that's been kind of surprising, in an...

For $13,000, You Will Never Lose Money On Replica
The title for today's was pulled straight from the ad for this Mitsubishi 3000GT modified to look like a Ferrari. Lose money or not, that bold pronouncement of course leads to the question: is the price for this replica reprehensible? Dust off your Whitesnake cassettes and slap some neon spandex...

The 103-Year-Old Mr. K Upon Hearing A Datsun 510 Was Named A Jalopnik 'Best Drive'
It's starting to feel like the main reason publications indulge in Car Of The Year awards is so the winning automaker will put their name in a bunch of advertisements, making the publication feel like a big shot. At Jalopnik, we don't buy in to this. We receive hand jobs...

For $4,100, You Rock!
To drive in the International Race of Champions, you need to be at a winner. To drive today's IROC-Z you need only have the necessary cash. The question is, will its price have you saying ROC-on? Dropping a Skyline engine into damn near anything usually makes the recipient magically propitious,...

318 Corners In 11 Miles: Driving America's Wildest Road
Three hundred eighteen corners. Eleven miles. Two states. Practically zero guard rails. Highway 129, also known as the Tail of the Dragon, is one of the greatest roads in all of North America. It's also one of the most dangerous. Since it's in the middle of nowhere, it takes forever...

For $12,000, Konnichi-Want?
In West Side Story, the Jets and the Sharks, two Upper West Side gangs, rumble and explode in violent dance, while two doomed lovers try to get busy in the middle of it all. Some car makers have had similar rivalries, but as today's Nissan-powered Toyota proves, hatchets can be...
