Ford’s F-150 has been the best-selling vehicle in the U.S. for, well, seemingly forever. Today’s long bed comes from before it was number one, or even 150, but will this refreshed F’s price make it a best seller?

The Miata ruined the Classic British Car Experience© for many, proving that small sports cars needn’t be leaky, mechanically intemperate, or for that matter, British. Ever since then wonderful cars like yesterday’s have had a tough row to hoe, even in light of it being about as rare as a self-deprecating joke from Kanye.

I’m sure that the little Mazda was in the backs of people’s minds as they voted on that TVR’s price, and may have had something to do with the 68% Crack Pipe loss that ensued. To be honest with you, I saw the vote swinging the other way. But then, I’m an inveterate Anglophile so there you go.

Here we go with today’s candidate, which is about as far from that TVR as you could want. Perhaps that will forbear a different outcome as well.

This is , comes in black—like really everything is black here—and rocking a desirable drivetrain. The truck looks badass but off-puttingly so, sort of like the Danny Trejo of trucks. Out back there’s a Styleside long bed and in the middle a standard cab. That pretty much gives you the most bang for your exposed cargo capacity buck and engenders good posture by not allowing much backrest angle on the seat.

Speaking of seats, we don’t get to see them in this truck seeing as the seller didn’t deem it worthy of including inside pics in his ad. He does give us a shot of the mill and that almost makes up for it. Under the clamshell hood lies a tidy 390FE sporting headers and Ford blue paint. That’s a reasonably sized V8 but it still looks a little lost in the roomy engine compartment. Part of that may stem from the lack of ancillaries—there’s no A/C here—but it bodes well for maintenance and under hood cooking opportunities if you’re into road kitchening.

Behind the 390 lies a top-loader four-speed and that means a floor shifter if memory serves. The all-caps all-the-time ad incongruously notes that the truck is all original, and then goes on to state that it has almost all new or rebuilt parts.

Either way, it’s all good. The ad says there’s 68,000 miles on the clock and the truck comes with a clean title and a clean history as it’s claimed to have never been wrecked. Centerline-like wheels and decent-looking tires add to the positives.

All that comes with a price of… $6,000. Now, that’s in that odd spot between you-might-as-well money and the amount you’d really have to give some thought to. I’m thinking that you won’t have to do much thinking here as this is a pretty sweet looking truck.

Of course I’ve been wrong before—witness yesterday—and so it’s now time for you to weigh in. What do you think, does this clean old Ford have you thinking it’s worth that $6,000? Or, is this an F-series with an Eff’d up price?
