Long Term report 2 - Ford Figo AT

Ford Figo Titanium 1.5 Ti-VCT AT Long Term Review Report 2

It’s been a month and over 1000km of extensive city driving with our long term Ford Figo automatic. That it’s an automatic has been a big boon in this scenario. But, we will get to that in a later report. This time round, we want to talk interiors.

As far as design goes, there’s nothing exciting about the Figo’s insides. It doesn’t look old or boring, but it doesn’t exactly look young and inviting either. It is a practical cabin, nevertheless. We love the storage options – the central console can hold everything from phones to wallets to coffee cups and change (coins not clothes, mind). The front door pockets are thoughtfully designed too. These are compartmentalised, so people with a neatness fetish will love the fact that the bottle, the sunglasses and the man purse can all be evenly spaced, and placed in a sequence.

I like the trip computer too. Operated via a push button on the indicator stalk, it throws up info like trip, range, and average fuel economy and speed. But don’t rely on the fuel efficiency reading too much; it’s a little optimistic. Furthermore, the music player’s sound quality is good and it connects with your Bluetooth handset in a jiffy. The electric fold for ORVMs is a convenient touch as well.

What we would have liked better, however, is the driver’s seat bolstering; it takes forever to get comfortable in it. The user interface for the stereo could be more intuitive as well; it’s a chore to read through your call and song list.

Space wise though, we have no real complaints; there’s enough knee and shoulder room for two occupants at the back, and the boot is large enough to hold one large suitcase and a couple of backpacks. There’s enough room to hold – but not to drive – a 1:10 Tamiya Toyota FJ40 old workhorse too.

Next month, we’ll talk about the Figo’s city compatibility.

Vehicle Stats

Variant – Titanium

Odometer reading – 7608 km

Positives of the report – Storage space, electric fold for ORVMs, comprehensive trip computer

Negatives of the report – Boring instrumentation design, poorly bolstered seat, Infotainment UI could be more intuitive

Fuel Efficiency – 10.7kmpl

BS6 Skoda Rapid Review: Pros and Cons
IntroductionWhat we have here is the BS6 Skoda Rapid. Currently, not the most popular body style, you’d agree, but the driving dynamics of this sedan have their charm.
