When Ford killed off the Fiesta in Europe, the company made no secret about what would replace it: . Now, with a tweet from European boss Martin Sander, the blue oval has shown off a sneak peek of its next electrified model. And folks, it sure is a boxy crossover.

speculated that the upcoming crossover will be called the Explorer Sport, but this initial tease doesn’t show much Explorer DNA in the new car’s styling. It’s more compact than its bigger brother, and the overall shape — and that body line that dips beneath the headlight — more closely resemble another non-American Ford: The .

See what I’m talking about? The way that body line kind of dips under the headlight? It matches.

Sure, the headlights aren’t a perfect match, but look at the rest of the body. The Everest and this new, unnamed EV share a similarly long, low greenhouse and tall, squared-off front end. Imagine an Everest dropped to the ground like , and you may have a pretty good estimation of how this new EV will look.

As a replacement for the Fiesta, an Everest-inspired EV is... disheartening. Of course, the push towards electrification is one from which , but replacing with a bigger crossover plays into the that .

Ford’s upcoming EV will surely sell, with and on-trend, off-road-inspired styling. It will likely, in a vacuum, be a very interesting and good-looking vehicle. But as a Fiesta replacement, is it the car we need?

You don't care if other people think you're cool; you know you're cool. If you want a job done right you think you have to do it yourself. You've got a bad habit of getting into car chases that end in fiery explosions. You were alive when the movie I'm...

The isn't just a series of minor enhancements. Although the differences between the GT are subtle, they're numerous — starting with the badge delete option and Highland Green paint, a large black grille rimmed with a satin piece of chrome that hints at the car's unique importance. The dark five-spoked...

Go North — and take that big-ass SUV with you. That was the mandate from the wife, so that's what I did. Sure, it was partly to visit friends near Lewiston, four hours north of Detroit, but it was also partly to get the out of our driveway. Greenwashing badges...
