Full steam ahead for the new car market
Full steam ahead for the new car market-November 2024
2023-12-14 EST 02:30:54

The new car market has been on the up for a while now, not only here in South Africa but in the United States as well. With many car manufacturers posting incredible sales results for March, it seems the worst is behind us.

In the U.S. it was 2 of the usual suspects who came out strong, as well as an unlikely Korean manufacturer. Audi North America completed the month sales with the company’s best ever March and the best first quarter ever. Not to be out-done, Volkswagen America posted their strongest sales month in 7 years. The strongest player for VW was the Jetta, which sold 16 969 models. Also coming in with a strong month of sales in the U.S. was Kia, who achieved an all-time sales record for March and also saw their best ever first quarter sales.

Back at home, the South African car market showed some impressive sales figures as well, with the most usual of suspects taking the number 1 spot in the passenger car market.

1. Volkswagen Polo Vivo 2144
2. Toyota Corolla 1984
3. Volkswagen Polo 1823
4. Toyota Yaris Zen 1445
5. Mercedes-Benz C-Class 1342
6. Ford Figo 1204
7. BMW 3-Series 1169
8. Toyota Fortuner 983
9. Chevrolet Aveo 894
10. Chevrolet Cruze 725
