Hats Off To This Horrible Datsun
Hats Off To This Horrible Datsun-May 2024

You’re a 1972 . You don’t have all your paint. You don’t have an un-cracked piece of your interior. But you run, day in day out, and you’re a champion in my book.

Please enjoy this horrible, wonderful Z, the kind of car we will all miss in a few years or decades when the last of these cars are either rusted away or crashed.

Back in 1997, anyone could walk into a Nissan dealership, slap down a few greenbacks and drive home

I mean, all the ones not .

Look , describing a laser focus on... anything other than making it look like a show car. This thing is meant to run:

Testing the waters with my 1972 Datsun 240z. I dont want to sell it, but I don’t really have the time for it either. THIS IS MY DAILY DRIVER! Yes, she runs. This patina beauty has it where it counts. Solid body with just a little rust around rear fenders (have one replacement). Stock L24 runs great with upgraded ignition system (Pertronix, MSD 6AL, MSD coil, NGK plugs) and twin SU carbs from ZTherapy (THE premier SU carb builders). Also has an upgraded 280z 5-speed trans installed, Energy suspension bushings, and aftermarket rear sway bar. I do have the stock 4-speed trans also that comes with it. Interior is pretty stipped out, no carpets, no headliner, decent door panels. Good glass, rear hatch is a rare early peice with vertical defrost lines. Have lots of parts that go with it. Runs good, but could still use some fine tuning. Drove to Idaho and back. Ran like a top, averaged 26-27mph @ 90mph. Open to trades for INTERESTING cars or trucks of similar value.

The car is listed at $8,000, which is a lot of money in 2019, but will seem like pennies in 2029 when you can’t get a genuine 240Z for less than 15,000 spacebux.

What Do You Want To Know About The Mercedes-AMG SL63?
What Do You Want To Know About The Mercedes-AMG SL63?
The Mercedes-AMG SL63 convertible is a good car. A very good car. That sounds a bit ridiculous as it costs an eye-watering $162,795, but a lot of cars that cost that much are actually bad. As in, not good. Before I write a full review, now’s your chance to pick...

The 325 Horsepower 2017 Ford Fusion Sport Is Not The Audi-Slayer We Wanted
Two months ago, an angelic deity (or a thirsty headline) that a new savior—a cheap, fun sedan that some might call the “Audi-Slayer”—would beam down from the Ford heavens, gracing us with tons of power and all-wheel drive. I just drove this chosen one, the , and it wasn’t the...

For $25,500, Could This 2005 Lotus Elise Be The Key To Popularity?
The seller of today’s Lotus says NOT to buy it if you’re married and weak willed. That’s because he suggests you will get propositioned in it unceasingly. Let’s find out if you’ll have no problem saying no to this little troublemaker’s price. Yesterday’s was the ultimate expression of America’s mid-enginer...

For $17,000, Could This 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT Be The Best Fiero There Is?
If you were to picture the perfect factory Fiero what might that look like? An ’88 with the uprated suspension? V6 power and a five-speed stick? Maybe the T-tops to let the sun shine in? Well, you just described today’s car. Now let’s see if it’s also perfectly priced. Incredulity...

For $68,000, Could This 1987 VW Westfalia Syncro Be The Ultimate Get-Away?
Winter is coming and should you be desirous of a mountain retreat for ski trips you could do far worse than today’s Westy Syncro, as it could let you set up house pretty much anywhere. That is, if its price doesn’t set you up for the Poorhouse. There once was...
