There’s regular crazy and there’s Florida crazy. In the last day alone, we’ve seen , , and all out of the Sunshine State. But all of that is nothing compared to the markup on this 2020 Supra.

Until this from Toyota Kia of Vero Beach, Florida showed up, at least. We’re no strangers to stiff dealer markups on exciting new cars. They’re not always fair, but when supply’s low, demand is gonna be high. But just how high can it get?

We were amazed to find out.

It turns out that this dealer is not selling this Supra (which starts at $49,995) up 50 percent. They’re not even marking it up 100 percent. They’ve added $138,819 to the price tag of this fully loaded Supra Premium in Renaissance Red. There have been some pretty on this car already, but this is absurdity.

Toyota Kia of Vero Beach did indeed confirm to us over the phone that the price listed in the ad is accurate, and they did say that they have received “serious interest” for the car at that price.

The last time we spoke about a new model getting marked up beyond affordability it was the . A convertible pickup truck with the off-road ability of a Wrangler is going to attract a lot more attention (and potential buyers) than something more conventional, and dealers have found that in some cases that attention is worth a cool twenty grand. The same thing went for the Dodge Challenger Demon. Limited production and preposterous power figures were naturally going to be matched by to the tune of $175,000.

Now, it always does cost more to be an early adopter. Just ask It’s bound to be worth it to some people. It’s exciting to be the first to show up in the latest machine, especially when you get to do quarter miles But at some point marking up the newest model stops being about harnessing demand and starts being about getting the kind of attention that warrants a write-up . And hey, it worked.

Peak SUV Isn't Here Yet But It's Coming Ever Faster
The : Where and when might it end? Because it will end, and it . A suggests that that end might be closer than we think. The current market landscape is, basically, about what you’d expect, given what happened the last time we went through this. A little refresher:...

At $38,500, Could this Custom 1989 BMW 325i Turbo Touring Make You Throw Caution to the Wind?
Yes, the price tag on today’s custom E30 could be considered eye watering, but could its custom build and fat turbo make it a real eye opener? It may be considered quaint and perhaps even mystifying by today’s standards, but at one point in time cars didn’t all have...

At $2,500, Is This Custom 1992 Mazda MX-5 Miata a Book You Don’t Judge by its Cover?
A lot of car people say that ‘Miata’ is always the answer. One look at today’s NA edition and you might be asking the question, what are you smoking? Let’s see if this individualistic MX-5 can at least create a consensus over its price. It has been said that...

Here Is Why It’s So Difficult to Know How Much You're Actually 'Saving' on a Used Car
It’s no great revelation that used cars are way more complicated to shop for than new models. And it’s sometimes even more difficult to determine whether or not a customer got a “good price” on a used car. A recent look into buying habits revealed that online retailers can,...

The Honda Civic Type R's Price Has Gone Up Almost $2,500 In Two Years
Honda just announced pricing for the 2019 , and the number is quite a bit bigger than the 306 horsepower, front-drive hot hatch launched back in 2017. The new price is $37,230, which accounts for a $36,300 suggested retail price plus a $930 destination charge. By comparison, the 2017...

Which of You Turkeys Is Dropping $50,000 on a Handbuilt Acura TLX?
Which of You Turkeys Is Dropping $50,000 on a Handbuilt Acura TLX?
When you want your product to give off a sense of “old-worldness” and “craftsmanship,” you tell everyone that it is “handmade” or “handbuilt.” This marketing scheme has worked on me multiple times, just check my shoe rack. There’s no doubt that Acura hopes buyers will feel similarly about the...
