Look at how she slices, look at how she dices! Look at how she seems to take millimeter-high waves without falling over at all! This is the United States Navy’s new , and after we saw it in putting out to open sea for the first of its builders’ trials before delivery, here’s the first video we’ve seen of it yet.

There’s been that the Zumwalt’s tumblehome hull design, in which the sides of the ship slope up, in, and away from the water, instead of out towards it, could result in a bit of instability. Most modern ships, like the Zumwalt’s predecessor, the Arleigh Burke-class destroyers, have hulls that flare outward, which could aid in buoyancy in rough seas and in battle conditions.

But jokes on you, jokers. In completely smooth seas with seemingly no other boats around it, the Zumwalt stays perfectly upright.

So there.

Still looks pretty cool going through the water, though.
