Holy Hell, The 500-HP BMW M5 Is Officially Cheaper Than A Honda Civic
Holy Hell, The 500-HP BMW M5 Is Officially Cheaper Than A Honda Civic-August 2024

There are two actions that people perform when they see a great deal in front of them: The first is to check if it’s real. The second is to make a mad sprinting dash to get it before anyone else can get their grubby mitts on it. In the case of , you better get your shovin’ hand ready for some action.

is the answer to the question “What car can do everything?” It’s roomy enough for five adults in relative comfort, has trunk space large enough to start a new life, and a race-derived, insanely high revving, 507-horsepower V10 that’s mated to a seven speed semi-automatic transmission. This one is blue, which is just the best color for an M5 to be - that’s a fact.

However, its party piece is the fact that this once-$100,000 car is now less than 20 percent of its original purchase price, and a fair margin less than a new, moderately equipped Honda Civic. You may panic now.

While this car does have its share of miles, at almost 100,000, that’s not important, because the’re enough variety in the marketplace that you could buy an M5 for nearly any budget, without having to go the salvage/flood/buy here pay here route. I’d get one with a red interior myself as I’m partial to that BMW color combo, but this tan and light burlwood accent looks quite upscale in comparison to BMW’s usual low-rent interior quality on its lesser models.

Everyone needs a BMW M5 at least once in their lives. It’s the yardstick for measuring performance in a package that’s civilized enough to do everything better than most purpose-built cars. While repairs on such a high-strung engine can be costly, BMW has a way of making everything more or less accessible if you wish to do things yourself, although be prepared to have lots of time spent on overhauls of usually non-serviceable parts.

This is a car that rewards you for doing your homework and completing maintenance and repairs on time. If you’re up for the task, .
