Honda — Sedan Supremacy

Sedan Supremacy

The sedan has been an extremely popular body style and one of the most sought-after car segments across the globe. Be it an affordable or the most expensive luxury segment – there is a sedan everywhere. Sedans are low slung, aerodynamic with superior cornering ability, and hence are celebrated for their driving dynamics. Although the world has shifted to SUVs in recent years, sedans are still greatly preferred.

Sedans are matchless when it comes to their design, as against sports utility vehicles. Not to mention, they can be elegant, sporty, luxurious, or snazzy, that is, they are extremely versatile. Besides that, designing a new sedan body style is always a challenging task for automotive designers as they must create better than the best – for each sedan is different. Even though SUVs stand out in a crowd, sedans are always a sight to sore eyes.

It should also be noted that due to the low-slung characteristic, sedans offer incredible speed and agility even around corners. What’s more, the aerodynamic shape of sedans and low ground clearance go hand-in-hand, providing absolute control of a car and driving pleasure unlike SUVs’ unpleasant body roll around corners.

Automobile manufacturers outfit SUVs with the additional equipment for stability and reducing body roll, which significantly increases the cost of SUVs. On the other hand, sedans don’t need any extra equipment, thanks to their inherent characteristics.

Arguably, sedans are incredibly fun-to-drive and most preferred not only by driving enthusiasts but many others around the globe. And what brings them alive is hairpin bends, especially breath-taking ghat roads across India. In fact, be it street corners in the city or track, you can put the pedal to the metal and drive flat-out in sedans. Having said that, SUVs don’t necessarily generate that excitement in enthusiastic drivers.

Sedans don’t just offer driving pleasure or striking appearance, but they are also practical in terms of carrying passengers and their luggage – comfortably. Passengers don’t have to compromise over space for luggage since that easily fits into the enormous boot space of sedans. Only a sedan can provide the best of both worlds — being chauffeured on weekdays and getting behind the wheel.

Not only are the sedan body styles popular, but they are also one of the most used vehicle segments in the world. They are an affordable pick and inexpensive to maintain, compared to massive and costly SUVs. Almost every carmaker makes sedan cars and sells them like hotcakes.

When it comes to sedans, Honda City appears as a leader of its segment and is one of the most sought-after sedans across many regions. The Honda City has entered its fifth generation and is still the most popular sedan in terms of driving dynamics, in-cabin space, practicality, and more importantly, fuel efficiency. The City has maintained its crown of being the most successful sedan for the past 25 years with its striking design, fun-to-drive experience, and versatile family car.
