Honda Will Race The 2016 Civic Type R Because It's Too Good Not To
Honda Will Race The 2016 Civic Type R Because It's Too Good Not To-February 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:11:44

When you've got a hatchback that puts out 310 horsepower and maybe obliterated a front-wheel drive , how can you not take it racing? That's what Honda plans to do with the new . The updated car will replace its predecessor for the 2015 British Touring Car Championship season.

Honda Yuasa Racing announced today that their version of the new CTR will be unveiled next Tuesday, March 24, at the BTCC media day at Donington. Development on the race car started last September and an unbranded test car, pictured above at left beside the outgoing car, has been spotted testing at Brands Hatch.

Looks even better in racing form.

The BTCC Civic Type R, now with a fancy turbocharged 2.0-liter VTEC inline four, has been boosted to 350 horsepower and 295 pound feet of torque. It also boasts a more aggressive aero kit with even more downforce than the outgoing car.

The last-generation Honda Civic had been in BTCC since 2012, and a wagon variant was used last year. It won the teams' championship that year and in 2013, and finished second overall in 2014. I look forward to seeing what the new car will do out on the track.

Porsche Might Join Formula 1, But It All Depends On How Green The Next Engines Are
Could Formula 1 see another prominent sports car maker join its ranks? It’s not out of the question, though it is contingent on where F1 decides to go with its forthcoming engine changes. Porsche’s looks like the impetus. If Porsche — and, perhaps more importantly, parent company Volkswagen —...

The Aston Martin Team Has The Best F1 Livery Of A Generation
I will always lament the loss of the BWT-sponsored pink Racing Point cars of the last few years, but if that excellent livery had to leave the sport, I can think of no car more fitting to replace it on the grid than the Aston Martin F1 Team AMR21....

A Car This Small Shouldn't Sound This Good
A few years ago, I saw this little Finnish Toyota Starlet run at the Mt. Washington hillclimb. I don’t think my ears have stopped ringing. I loved the car so much that I still check up on it every so often, making a note to check in on Mikko...

Alpine F1's Car Is More Proof The 2021 Grid Is Going To Look Really Good
By now, you’ve likely seen the 2021 Formula 1 cars from and . They look great — but I think Alpine’s just outdone them both. What was the Renault F1 team is now Alpine. With that, we have a change from yellow and black to blue and red. The...
