How Are You Doing, Texas And Oklahoma?
How Are You Doing, Texas And Oklahoma?-June 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:12:27

The whole country is dealing with unprecedented winter conditions on track to shatter records, but the American southwest, in particular, is suffering under historic amounts of cold and snow.

Texas and Oklahoma — among others — have been hit hard with storms. Thousands of flights have been canceled or delayed, folks in Dallas were dealing with from icy road conditions last week, and this week they’re dealing with blackouts and unrelenting ice and snow.

A ten-car pileup was reported in Houston on Sunday night, per and car accidents have been reported all throughout Harris Country which is dealing with its own power outages as well.

Just to give you an example of how crazy the weather is right now, I’ll point you to a winter tornado that struck Brunswick County, North Carolina late Monday evening. Three people died and ten more were injured, . And North Carolina is still under a tornado watch even as the winter storm rages.

It’s crazy out there. And it’s still not over.

Oklahoma City is expected to see a wind chill that will go as low as 20 below zero, per . The Northeast, too, will be hit but those states have a little more experience dealing with the bitter cold. Winter tires are an eccentricity down here; folks here swear by their all-seasons.

The south neither has the infrastructure nor the cultural familiarity to deal with the white stuff blanketing their states. To add insult to injury, power grids across the south are failing, causing rolling blackouts in multiple states during this historic deep cold.

Some people in Texas are making the best out of it, but not everyone has that luxury because folks have to go to work even in these conditions so please read up on some for motorists from our own Elizabeth Blackstock.

If you have to get out on the road be extra carefuland stay safe. I’m lucky enough to be someplace warm and bundled up, but how about the rest of my fellow Texans, and Okies? How are you doing?

An Absolute Hero Restored The 100 Foot Limo To Its Former Glory And Broke A World Record In The Process
You can forget stretched Hummer H2s, coach buses and even the Canyonero. — and it’s perfect. Feast your eyes, my friends, on “The American Dream.” It’s back and longer than ever. You’ve probably seen pictures of this vehicle rotting away in a New Jersey warehouse parking lot over the...

Hagerty Acquires RADwood, Gets Another Step Closer To Full Automotive-World Domination
World domination is hard — just ask Vladimir Putin. What you have to do is pick a slice of the world to dominate. This is what I’m coining as the “Hagerty Method.” The company found its corner of the world — the automotive landscape — and decided they could...

Here's How Different Gran Turismo 7 Looks On PS4 Versus PS5
When was announced as a cross-generation release for both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, some fans were disappointed the game would be curtailed so as to not take full advantage of the newer hardware. Most people who want PS5s still can’t get them, so a PS4 release was necessary to...

Traffic Jams: "Night Flight" — Led Zeppelin
My husband and I have been in the midst of an ongoing argument for weeks now. The topic? What constitutes a Led Zeppelin banger. We don’t fight often, but when we do, we’re top-of-the-lungs hollering at each other about classic rock. You see, he argues that hits like “Black Dog”...

The Vision GT Roadster Is The Ultimate Jaguar
The Vision GT Roadster Is The Ultimate Jaguar
It’s a shame that Jaguar didn’t decide to make the Vision GT a limited-series production supercar, because the newest Roadster version would be an instant hit with a 60-car run and sell out at 2 million a pop in just a few hours. Then again, modern supercars drive like...
