How Much Power Does the 2025 Suzuki DR
How Much Power Does the 2025 Suzuki DR-October 2024
2025-09-25 EDT 12:47:52

Suzuki’s DR-Z has been a long-standing staple in the dual sport segment since its inception in 2001. Known for its versatility, reliability, and respectable off-road performance, the DR-Z continued to sell well, both new and used. But due to Euro 5+ emission standards, 2024 models of the DR-Z400S and DR-Z400SM could only be sold in North America. For the DR-Z to reclaim a global presence in the dual sport and supermoto markets, engine modernization was required. The new DR-Z4S features a nearly all-new engine along with all-new chassis, styling, and an adjustable electronics suite..embed-container { position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%; height: 0; overflow: hidden; max-width: 100%; } .embed-container iframe, .embed-container object, .embed-container embed { position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; }The 2025 Suzuki DR-Z4S utilizes the same 398cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, but it’s been updated with a new cylinder head, redesigned intake ports, revised camshaft profiles, dual spark plugs, and fuel injection via a 42mm throttle body. A five-speed transmission remains, but most of the gears have been updated to increase strength and a slipper/assist clutch has been added.Another thing that sets the new bike apart from its predecessor is Suzuki’s Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.). This electronics suite provides riders the choice between three throttle maps, three levels of traction control, and two levels of ABS. Fully adjustable KYB suspension, off-road-ready wheels and tires (21-inch front and 18-inch rear), relaxed ergonomics, and a fairly manageable curb weight of 333 pounds qualify the DR-Z4S to fill a space that other all-around dual sports do not. Pricing is $1800 more than the old DR-Z400S at $8999.

How Much Power Does the 2025 Suzuki DR1

On the Cycle World Dynojet 250i dynamometer, the 2025 Suzuki DR-Z4S produced 33.5 hp at 8100 rpm and 23.9 lb.-ft. of torque at 6600 rpm. Compared to the previous DR-Z400S, usable torque has increased throughout the entire rev range, contributing to the engine’s usability in off-road terrain. Whether the engine is chugging down low or revving past the midrange, throttle response is sharp, fueling is smooth, and the power is direct—all proof that Euro 5+ regulations can lead to better motorcycles.
