Introduction

The mid-size SUV space has seen a lot of action lately, but it’s the Hyundai Creta that has ruled the roost since its launch in 2015. It’s a brand in itself that offers radical styling, spacious interiors and quality of materials. On the other hand, there’s the Nissan Kicks that offers contemporary styling, decent kit and spacious interiors. So, which car offers more space? Here’s a quick comparison between the two, to help you make a decision.

Cabin Space – Front

Both the cars offer spacious interiors, but where the Kicks’ cabin is sophisticated, the Creta’s interiors are modern and better in quality. The lighter colours in the Creta uplift the cabin ambience, while the dark palette and quirky choice of colours in the Kicks may divide opinion.

The Hyundai Creta has a slight edge with a legroom of 830mm, as against 820mm in the Nissan Kicks. But overall, the Kicks offers more headroom and better back support. Both the SUVs offer similar shoulder room of 1320mm. Interior quality and fit and finish is top-notch in the Creta, but the Kicks takes the round one with the space it offers.

Cabin Space – Rear

At the back, both these SUVs feature bench-type seats along with a good backrest angle and enough space. However, the Kicks is the spacious of the two with 10mm more legroom (840mm), 20mm more headroom (950mm) and a shoulder room of 1320mm, compared to 1310mm in the Creta.

When it comes to seating comfort, the Nissan Kicks provide more under-thigh support and better support for your back, when compared to the Hyundai Creta. Both the SUVs benefit from rear AC vents and a near-flat floor. Sitting three-abreast wouldn’t be an issue in both, but the Kicks has a slight edge. Round two goes to the Nissan as well.

Boot Space Capacity

The Creta gets a boot space capacity of 433 litres, which is similar to the Kia Seltos. In comparison, the Nissan Kicks gets a cargo area of 400 litres despite the boot being longer and taller than the Creta. The former also offer a lower loading-lip height, which means shoving luggage inside is easier. Round three goes to the Creta.

Conclusion

With its spacious and practically laid-out cabin, the Nissan Kicks is the clear winner here. It is also loaded with a decent set of features. The Hyundai Creta, on the other hand, offers better quality and some premium features like panoramic sunroof, driving modes and more.
