The line-up of what’s now Hyundai Automotive SA’s most affordable model (after Atos production ended – it’s no longer listed) and top seller has grown from 6 to 8 thanks to the addition of 2 sedan derivatives.
The Grand i10 hatchback gains a comprehensively redesigned lower front end.
The facelifted Grand i10 line-up runs from R229900 to R309900 (slightly above the outgoing range’s latest pricing bookends of R224900 and R303900, though bear in mind Hyundai Automotive SA quietly implemented price increases at the start of both April and June). Scroll to the bottom of the page to see full pricing for the updated line-up, which again includes Motion and Fluid trim levels.
The Grand i10’s front end gains a redesigned black grille, plus an updated bumper (with LED daytime running lights on Fluid derivatives – they’re three-pointed items on the hatchback and L-shaped arrays on the sedan), while the rear is adorned with a high-mounted stop lamp as well as revised taillights.
Also, whereas the Motion versions have 14-inch wheel covers, their Fluid counterparts feature eye-catching 15-inch alloys and side repeater lamps on the side mirrors (they’re heated and fold electrically).
Inside, the updated Grand i10 sports black cloth-and-vinyl upholstery with red accents, and comes fitted with, inter alia, a Type-C USB fast charger (front), a standard reverse-view camera and rear air vents.
As before, the entry-level engine for the hatchback (including the Cargo-badged panel van) is a naturally aspirated 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol motor, which generates an unchanged 49 kW/94 Nm. Drive is sent to the front axle via a 5-speed manual gearbox (the 4-speed automatic transmission is no longer offered in conjunction with this engine), with the claimed consumption coming in at 5.5 litres per 100 km.
Those requiring a smidgen more oomph have the option of upgrading to the likewise-atmospheric 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol unit, which delivers 61 kW/114 Nm (peak outputs are also unchanged).
Transmission choices include the same 5-speed manual (with a claimed consumption of 5.5 litres per 100 km) as well as a 4-speed automatic (which uses a claimed 5.9 litres per 100 km). Interestingly, the outgoing 1.0 Motion hatchback AT is effectively replaced by a new 1.2 Motion hatchback AT derivative.

The Motion grade will include items such as steel wheels (with plastic covers), black side-mirror caps, a polyurethane finish for the multifunction steering wheel, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, manual aircon, an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen (with Apple CarPlay and Andriod Auto) and rear parking sensors.
Upgrading to the Fluid specification adds items such as body-coloured side-mirror caps, the option of a black roof (on white, red and green cars), auto lights, leather-trimmed steering wheel, chrome-accented gear knob, seatback pockets, a 60:40 split for the rear bench, ambient cabin lighting and cruise control.
Dual airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOfix child-seat anchors are on the list of safety kit standard across the range, though stability control is again not present.
The sedan is offered exclusively in 1.2 Fluid guise (with a manual gearbox or automatic transmission). The pair of sedan derivatives are priced exactly the same as the equivalent hatchbacks.
The Grand i10 sedan’s main local competition include the Suzuki DZire and Honda Amaze, which like the Hyundai each comes in at under 4 metres long and is manufactured in India.
Measuring 3995 mm from nose to tail, the Grand i10 saloon is around 180 mm longer than its 5-door hatch sibling. While the hatchback’s luggage compartment can swallow a claimed 360 litres, Hyundai lists the sedan’s load-bay capacity at a slightly more generous 402 litres.
