Hyundai i20 N Line India launch confirmed for 2021

- Will be the sportier looking version of the standard i20

- To be launched sometime later in 2021

Hyundai has confirmed the launch of a sportier version of the i20 for the Indian market. To be launched by the end of 2021, the i20 N Line will be a premium offering from the Korean carmaker with an aggressive exterior styling, interiors with N Line highlights, and a revised suspension setup. There is no denying that the new-gen i20 is a handsome looking hatch and this special treatment will only make it more appealing.

Several carmakers have a knack for launching a sport or performance trim of their top-selling models. It seems Hyundai plans on experimenting on the same lines with the i20 N Line. Spotted last month on test was the prototype of i20 ‘N Line’ with partial camouflage on Indian roads, details of which can be read here.

Internationally, the N Line was introduced in October 2020 with the same 1.0-litre T-GDi engine making 120bhp mated to the new iMT transmission with slightly tweaked suspension, engine response, and exhaust note. It also rides on larger 17-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels with a two-tone finish. Other elements like twin exhaust, dual-tone paint job, and redesigned bumpers help it stand out from the standard version.

On the inside, the special treatment continues with N Line badging and contrast red stitching on the bucket seats and the gear knob. It also gets equipped with N-specific steering wheel and leather N shift gear lever. Currently, the i20 N Line is on sale in several European markets and Hyundai is likely to bring it to the Indian shores by the end of 2021.
