I Don’t Know How This 1987 Toyota Camry Only Has 39,000 Miles, but You Should Buy It-September 2024

My favorite genre of used car is “super normal, everyday car that has suspiciously low miles and is inexplicably in amazing condition.” And this 1987 Toyota Camry on is exactly that. It only has 39,100 miles and one of the nicest old Camry interiors I’ve ever seen.

It’s hard to think of a car more normal and ubiquitous than a 1980s Camry—or really any Camry, to be honest. They’re seldom interesting, but they’re always dependable workhorse family cars. They’re meant to be driven, and they are. No one goes out of their way to preserve these things the way they would with a high-end sports car or whatever.

Which makes me think this Camry was preserved more by accident. My guess is this Colorado car was owned by an older person who probably drove it to church on occasion and not much else, and also made sure to do all the routine maintenance. Regardless, it’s extremely unusual to find a 31-year-old Camry with the same mileage and condition as a recently new lease turn-in special today.

This particular car has all the amenities any Camry owner could want or need: A four-speed automatic, a new timing belt and water pump, 14-inch steel wheels, a rear defroster and a nice blue interior. If only it had a manual instead of the slushbox.

It’s all quite lovely and a steal if it goes for anything close to the as-of-this-writing price of $3,200. It’s not perfect; it has a couple dents here and there, and the bumpers are pretty faded. But it’s a damn Camry, what do you expect?

You have approximately six hours and change from when this story was posted to put in a bid. I’m not sure this attention will blow up the price—it’s not an air-cooled 911, after all—but I do hope it’ll go to a worthy home.

Automakers Are Screwing Consumers Out Of The Equity In Their Leases

At $13,000, Would You Give This TDI-Transplanted 1981 VW Scirocco A New Lease On Life?
One of the great things about Volkswagen products is their Lego-like ability to mix and match parts from multiple generations. Today’s Scirocco is a prima facie example of that as it sports a TDI along with some other updates. Let’s see if it’s worth its asking. Selling a broken...

Some Ford Bronco Owners Are Reporting Their Hardtops Are Falling Apart, Growing Scales
The Bronco’s roof has been a point of frustration for Ford and prospective owners since well before the SUV started being delivered to the first customers last month. Production snags pushed vehicles optioned with body color-matched and contrasting hardtops to at least 2022. Those with molded-in-color Carbonite Gray roofs...

If You Want To Take On The Bronco Sasquatch The Jeep Wrangler's Xtreme Recon Package Will Cost $3,995
A leak revealed Jeep’s Xtreme Recon Package and the company just “officially” at the Chicago Auto Show. Probably the most extreme off-road package ever for a Jeep, the package will set you back $3,995. To recap, the Xtreme Recon Package turns the Wrangler into even more of an off-road...
