If you’ve ever seen me tweet or blog about Formula One these days, you know I feel like things are, uh, predictable. Without divine intervention,. In an effort to either prove myself very wrong or very right, I’m going to try to predict the U.S. Grand Prix this weekend.

To keep you skeptics from thinking I wrote this with any knowledge about the cars or how they’re performing this weekend, below is my prediction for the weekend—before any practice or qualifying sessions have taken place at Circuit of The Americas. I’m setting myself up to either make a strong point or thoroughly embarrass myself, conveniently here for you all to witness.

That’s my prediction for the series that I call predictable about as often as I inhale and exhale. We’ll find out how this goes over the next few days.

(Editor’s Note: This is the weakest prediction I have ever seen. No surprises at all. Very tame. I, on the other hand, will bet that Valtteri Bottas will win, beating the rest of the field with secret magic incantations that only the ancient people of Finland can understand. A moose might materialize in front of rival drivers. Lichen may be discovered fouling rival cars’ suspension components. Checo and Hulkenberg will round out the podium after all other cars crash on the first corner. – RO)
