Jalopnik Reviews: 2007 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, Part 3
Jalopnik Reviews: 2007 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, Part 3-February 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:10:21

The 2007 Wrangler Rubicon is Jeep, not a Jeep. Like a Zippo or a pair of Levis, the Wrangler is an icon, and Jeep's perfected its looks. Best-in-class off-road performance. Best-in-several-other-classes off-road performance. Detachable front sway bar is the killer app. Much more livable in grocery getting situations than all of its predecessors combined. You love fording streams. You like climbing walls. You feel happy while riding in it.

You need the four-door Unlimited model. You hate dirt. Your idea of the great outdoors is an Ansel Adams book. Getting in and out, especially on slopes, is tricky and never graceful. The Wrangler bounces around constantly and gets wallet-draining mileage. Keeping up with freeway traffic is work. The top and the doors come off, but where do you put them? Comes standard with a soft-top, but the owner's manual shows a picture of a rubber mallet (?) during the installation process. There isn't room for both buddies and gear. You like the Mars Lander looks of the off-roadgasmic Toyota FJ. You like the short-bus looks and zero capability of the Compass sibling. More than $30,000 for a Jeep Wrangler is steep, especially since you've never even seen an unpaved road.

One of the Tokyo Drift Ford Mustangs Is for Sale, but It Has a V8
Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift , made better by the fact that a Nissan Skyline GT-Rstraight-six engine gets stuffed into a 1967 near the end. One of the Mustangs from the movie is for sale, fully restored and clean as can be, but it’s lacking that very thing—the RB26....

Do You Care To Whom You Sell Your Car?
Selling a car is a hard thing to do, unless that car is a piece of crap like my was. Especially if you’ve had some great memories with it, letting go can be tough. But sometimes you have no choice, and time, money, or just generally crappy circumstances force...

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class Hatchback Is Now a Solid GTI Rival
The is a refreshing take at the luxury compact segment. It looks dashing——comes with fancy tech, drives well and . But as a Canadian, I have to tell you, America, that you’re missing out on the best that is the Mercedes A-Class. You, who favor sedans and, perhaps ironically,...

At $4,000, Would Owning This 1988 Volkswagen Quantum Syncro Wagon be Totally Rad?
I saw today’s VW Quantum at the L.A. Radwood show, and I must say, I was duly impressed. It’s going to be up to you however, to determine if I was four-grand impressed. A for the upcoming movie, Ford v. Ferrari dropped just a couple of days ago, and...

At $14,777, Could This 2014 Nissan NV200 Taxi be an Uber-Good Deal?
One of the best ‘dad jokes’ is when someone asks you to call them a cab and you reply with “okay, you are a cab.” Today’s NV200 is already a cab, but could its price be calling you? I think one thing that modern culture has made plainly evident...

At $39,999, Is This 1979 Ferrari 308 GTS Worth Selling a Kidney?
Today’s Ferrari offers drop dead good looks. It also offers a price that’s seemingly well below market for these cars. Could that mean it has an undisclosed flaw that would prove fatal at a higher price? Or, is it just the deal of the century? When you think about...
