JD Power has unveiled its results for 2014 in America. JD Power measures how many problems owners report with their new vehicle. Its measured in problems per 100 cars sold and does not necessarily refer to breakdowns, but also things that owners arent happy with or didn’t live up to expectation.
Whilst the list contains mostly American cars its interesting to note that there are quite a few locally sold cars on the list. Korean manufacturers seem to be doing particularly well, with 2011 SA Car of the Year the Hyundai Elantra scooping most reliable compact car. The Hyundai Accent also took the small car victory.
Porsche also does well in the sporty car segments, scoring awards for compact premium sporty car with the Boxster, large premium car with the Panamera and midsize sporty car went to the 911.
Strangely, no other German manufacturer makes it onto the list as American local manufacturers like Lincoln, GMC and Buick scored better in reliability stats.
While not all of these cars listed here are available in South Africa, the ones that are have been proven to be reliable and make their owners happy.
