Jeep Will Show Off Three Plug-In Hybrid Models At CES With A New 4xe Badge-July 2024

Jeep has already made a commitment to offer electrification options for all of its models, including a series of on-road focused models. The brand has not exactly been on the electrification end of the spectrum lately, but FCA is in serious trouble if it can’t bring down its corporate emissions numbers, so it is going to tackle the worst of the bunch first, I guess.

To that end, Jeep will introduce plug-in hybrid versions of the Wrangler, Compass, and Renegade at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next week. All of Jeeps future electrified models will feature a bright blue 4xe badge, presumably pronounced as ‘four by e’ which, for the record, I do not like. Then again, would a badge saying 4ybrid be any better? No.

I’m a big fan of hybrids, and I can only imagine how adding a boost of low-down electric torque would assist when it comes to scrabbling up the face of a rock on the Rubicon.

No specs have been released on these hybrid models, but I’d expect them all to use a similar motor and battery pack setup. It’s unlikely these models will be imbued with long EV-only ranges or equipped with particularly large and powerful motors. We’ll see exactly what the spec sheets look like after the new models bow at CES next week.

I’d love to see Jeep go farther with its electrified future, and hope to soon see a full BEV from America’s original SUV maker.

Welsh Guy Gets Fined For Driving With Another Car On His Roof And I'm Impressed
I realize that what this guy did is a bad idea, and he potentially endangered other drivers, and (£80 fine, plus surcharge of £30 and £85 in costs of some sort) fine he received. But that doesn’t change the fact that I’m pretty impressed he managed to haul an...

BMW Just Broke My Heart
BMW Just Broke My Heart
BMW has made some incredible M-wagons in the past. The E34 and E61 wagons leap immediately to mind. Even the E46 M3 wagon concept was great, though it sadly never made it to production. Us nerds are always praying for a new M-wagon to drop, but it doesn’t seem...

With a World Manufacturer Identifier and a striking new factory in Chengdu, China, ’s metamorphosis from racing team and in-house tuner to full-fledged manufacturer is nearing completion. The line between Polestar and its big brother from Goteborg, Volvo, has been pretty blurry. Started as a racing team by driver...

There’s no shortage of weird stuff that goes on in this little hellhole I like to call home, but even a river of chopped-up chicken bits filling a street in New York City will stop me in my tracks. The news spread after Sara Vilkomerson of The Late Show...

Waymo Calls On NHTSA To Scrap Standards For Autonomous Vehicles
Waymo is tired of impossible standards, the trade war might kill the planet, and Toyota is making global moves. All this and more in for Friday, August 30, 2019.
