Kia is now offering its all-new 7-speed dual-clutch transmission on the Soul compact crossover.
Kia has expanded theline-up of its Soul range in South Africa by making the brand’s seven-speed dual-clutch transmission available on the range-topping Soul 1.6 CRDi SMART model. Compared withthe current 6-speed automatic transmission, the 7-speed DCT is "able to cope with the turbodiesel's higher torque outputs and allows for quicker gear changes while reducing emissions and improving fuel economy", the Korean company claims.
The 7-speed DCT is the first of its kind from Kia and was developed by Kia’s research and development teams at its Korean R&D centre in Namyung. The transmissionis purported to offera sporty feel when in manual mode, while improving the 1.6 CRDi Smart'scomfort and smoothness when operating in automatic mode.
