My love of big, many-cylinder and has been well documented on this site. Despite these behemoth vehicles not really having a place in the world, I still find them incredibly cool. If you combine those big engines with a rugged off-roader (which is also awesome), you’ve got quite a stew I’m going to want to eat.

That stew is the V8.

I’ll be driving it for about five days all over New Jersey, and I’ve got some medium-sized plans for it. Other than running errands, I’ll also be taking a trip down to the shore to escape some of this incredibly hot weather we’re having in the Northeast. Also on the itinerary is trip to a drive-in movie theater with my family. It’s gonna be quite the weekend, folks.

However, before I get behind the wheel of this 5.0-liter supercharged V8 monster with over 515 horsepower and a tick over 460 lb-ft of torque, I want to know what you want to know. What are the lingering questions you have about the Defender, V8 or otherwise?

It’s it just a more grown up , or is it something more than that? Or, does the Defender V8 give up on its rough and tumble roots in the name of luxury?

The exact rig I’ll be piloting is a 2023 Defender 110 V8 Carpathian Edition. With a few options, mine has a sticker price of $116,870. However, a JLR rep told me Carpathian Editions are pretty much the Unobtainium of the Defender world, so you should expect a pretty healthy ADM if you want one.

That sticker price of nearly $117,000 is more than twice the base price of the Defender 110 – which starts at $53,500. So, what do you get for an extra $63,370 other than an engine with twice the cylinders as the base car? I’m going to find out.

If you’ve got some questions, make sure to throw them in the comments!

Stop Being Horny For The Cars
Stop Being Horny For The Cars
is, by most accounts, a good-looking grand tourer. With more than 600 horsepower and a zero-to-60 time in the low three second range, it’s undeniably quick, and apparently, it’s quite fun to drive. What it is not, however, is a sexy, curvaceous Italian that’s finally gone topless. Talking about...

You Had To Square Dance In School Because Henry Ford Hated Jazz
I’m not sure if they torture kids like this still, but the worst four-week period of my 6th grade life was our unit on square dancing in gym class. And wouldn’t you know it? One of the worst experiences of my academic life — and possibly yours as well...

Tucked next to roads running through school zones in are some hand-painted known as “Tobita-kun, or more formally, “Tobidashi Bōya,” which means “running boy.” These signs are for local drivers to slow down, and according to , they helped in Japan’s so-called Traffic War. The is a name given...

If You're Looking To STI-Swap And Lift A Subaru Forester For Off-Road Adventures, Then Boy Do I Have The Car For You
Just based on the photo shown here, you might assume I have a cool old Subaru Forester. Unfortunately for me, the truth is that I used to have a cool old Forester. As the license plate suggests, that picture was taken back when I lived in California. It was...

BYD’s Dolphin Is A Cheap EV With A Striking Organic Interior Design
Today I was watching CarGurus UK’s video review of the Dolphin, an electric hatchback with a base price in the U.K. of around £26,000, the equivalent of about $33,000. Current interior trends are leaning toward and deletion of physical switchgear, but the BYD Dolphin proves two things – car...

Half-Eleven Is The V8-Powered Porsche Hot Rod You Never Knew You Wanted
The Half11 project has been a several-year process behind . The idea behind this ridiculous car is the kind of thing only a kid could dream up, as they long ago dreamed about smashing a 911 and an IndyCar together. They started with the rusty shell of an old...
