Live Coverage Promised For San Felipe 250 Desert Race Tomorrow
Live Coverage Promised For San Felipe 250 Desert Race Tomorrow-April 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:13:28

The San Felipe 250 will pit trucks, bikes, and ATVs against each other and the desert tomorrow, kicking off a five-race championship off-road racing series.

Race organizer SCORE has promised that the CBS Sports Network will televise all five of their World Desert Championship series races. The catch is that CBS will only be giving each race one hour of coverage a month after the race has actually gone down. The slated time slot is 9:00PM EST on Sunday nights.

It's not huge, but it's a start to improving the exposure of off-road racing. CBS Sports Network is DirecTV Channel 221 and Dish Network Channel 158. I guess you've got plenty of time to order the channel if you really want to catch their coverage of the events.

If you don't want to wait that long, SCORE has once again setup a "UStream" broadcast that they say will bring you live action from the race. You can access is .

As many of you probably remember, there were some technical difficulties streaming the Baja 1000 and a lot of us were left unsatisfied. It breaks my heart to say it, but they haven't won my confidence back yet— a lot of the links on their website are broken. But we're just going to have to let them keep trying, at least somebody's trying to deliver live off-road racing coverage.

If their live stream does fail, you can try the SCORE , , , and pages action shots and updates.

Competition takes place tomorrow, March 1st. Motorcycles and ATVs start at 6:00AM local time (10:00AM EST), and trucks take off about three and a half hours later at 1:30PM EST. There's a minimum gap of three hours between the bike start and truck start. Bikes and ATVs have ten hours to complete the course, trucks get eleven and a half.

Official results will be posted at 9AM on Sunday, March 2.

The Cleanest Open-Wheeled Truck You Can Drive From An Adirondack Chair
The Cleanest Open-Wheeled Truck You Can Drive From An Adirondack Chair
A 1972 longbed Chevrolet C10 pickup crawled into a chrysalis and emerged as a beautiful butterfly of a hot rod with suicide doors, a scrunched up face, and front wheels open to the elements. Somehow, it all kinda comes together. Oh yeah, and the seats are "Adirondack style." Not sure...

The Libya Rally, 1,500 Miles From Libya, Has The Coolest Trailer
High production value, groovy soundtrack, and insane footage of some incredibly cool vehicles makes this my favorite desert racing clip right now. Reckon it's good enough to forgive organizers for naming another race after a place it doesn't go to? The 2014 Libya Rally is raging right now until April...

How Jeep Does Design A Little Differently In China
How Jeep Does Design A Little Differently In China
Jeep brought four special SUVs to this year's Beijing Motor Show. Two of them answered our most burning questions about the brand: will LED bars ever make it to the front bumper of a Wrangler and can you fit 20's on a Renegade? Yes, to both. I never would have...

What Could Heads-Up Displays Do For Trucks?
What Could Heads-Up Displays Do For Trucks?
Land Rover came up with a wicked Heads-Up Display application with their "" concept, but I think this technology has even more truck-specific potential. How could an HUD help trucks manage cargo, tow, go off-roading and do everything else we love trucks for? I'm evaluating a 2014 BMW X5 this...

Can You Find A Ford Bronco II In Bulgaria?
A reader from Europe wants to buy the SUV Ford called "The 4-Wheel Drive Vehicle For People Who Like To Visit Wildlife Sanctuaries." I'm not sure why someone in the land of abundant diesel-manuals would choose a Bronco II as their off-roader, but I bet the Truck Yeah! brain trust...

The Most Beautiful 1979 Mercedes Is Half El Camino
Clean. Tasteful. Elegant. These are not adjectives I tend to reach for when we're looking at a car converted into a pickup truck, but this 1979 Mercedes-Benz 300TD-El Camino lovechild is one of the prettiest Jimmy Carter-era Mercs I've ever seen. It's a classic diesel car with heaps of utility...
