NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Joey Logano is tired of being second. Remember “If you ain’t first, you’re last?” I’m pretty sure that’s a good summary of what Logano had to say after today’s Brickyard 400.

Logano started side-by-side next to Kyle Busch on a green-white-checkered finish, but ultimately, Busch grabbed his fourth win of the season and Logano just couldn’t get out in front.

Logano told :

You come to Indy, it’s all about the win. Either win or finish last. It doesn’t really matter anywhere in between. At least that’s the way I race when we come to a racetrack like this, Daytona and Indy. It’s all about getting trophies and rings and making out with bricks. Unfortunately, we came up a little bit short.

Bless you, Joey Logano. Thank you and the eight-pound, six-ounce Baby Jesus for unleashing this statement of pure, unadulterated NASCARism unto the general public.

Logano’s frustration with essentially being last poured over into his post-race interview:

Logano’s team owner, Roger Penske, is also frustrated with the second-place finish. Penske’s IndyCar effort has won fifteen Indianapolis 500s, but his NASCAR team has yet to bring home a win at the Brickyard 400.

Meanwhile, Kyle Busch’s from a that sidelined him for the start of the season continues. This gives him a third consecutive win, a feat which hasn’t happened since Jimmie Johnson got four wins in a row in 2007. Busch now has four wins this season and sits a mere 23 points out of gaining an entry to the Chase for the Sprint Cup. Because he missed so many races, Busch has to place 30th or higher to gain entry into the Chase, a feat which looks like a no-brainer at this point.
