Mechanics Reenact Renaissance Paintings; Beautiful And Hilarious
Mechanics Reenact Renaissance Paintings; Beautiful And Hilarious-February 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:13:40

Photographer specializes in images of cars and people. When he stepped into one particular auto shop and inspiration hit him to take a new spin on an old theme, and it’s pretty awesome.

“For many years I wanted to pay homage the great Renaissance masters,” Fabris himself writes in a recent article on the work. Like any parody, Fabris’ goal was “to take [these images] out of their original context, yet maintain their essence.” I mean, clearly he nailed it.

The group has featured Fabris, highlighting these images and some other incredible sports-portraits he’s shot won (check those out on !) He’s won 1st Place International Color Award, the One Eyeland Silver Award, and the APA Conceptual Award, so I guess we’re not the first to discover him. These images were actually shot over a year ago but I think Jalopnik readers will have a special appreciation for his work.

Of course you’ll recognize the image above as Michelangelo’s The Creation of Adam. Check out the rest of the series right here:

In the style of The Last Supper (Leonardo da Vinci).

In the style of The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp (Rembrandt).

And a spectacular series of “Rembrandt-style” portraits:

Images by Freddy Fabris posted with permission.

Building a Skid Plate Is Surprisingly a Ton of Work
I thought mounting underbody protection to my would be mostly quick and easy. Well, that was a dumb thought! To run a rally is to intentionally beat the hell out of your car. You run on rough roads, with ruts and jumps to bottom out on, and you run...

Here's What's Wrong With My $500 Low-Mileage Jeep Cherokee
Earlier this week, I purchased a gorgeous with only 106,000 miles on the clock for $500. It was a smokin’ deal, but not quite as smokin’ as some of you might have initially thought, since this Jeep has some significant issues, which I will now enumerate. We’ll jump right...

Detailing a Formula One Car Sounds Terrifying
Detailing a Formula One Car Sounds Terrifying
If I were to rank the amount of effort I put into cleaning my car, I’d probably fall somewhere in the middle. On one extreme end, there are people (see also: crazies) who never wash their cars. And on the other, there are obsessives like Larry Kosilla of He’s...
