Mercedes Boss Calls Out Top Gear Host For Partying Too Hard In Monaco
Mercedes Boss Calls Out Top Gear Host For Partying Too Hard In Monaco-March 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:11:21

Mercedes Formula One team executive director Toto Wolff refuted claims that Mercedes would drop its F1 team in the most hilarious way—by accusing and current Eddie Jordan of partying a bit too hard over the Monaco weekend when he said them.

When asked if current Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel might consider a move to Mercedes, Jordan told German publication Auto Bild that he expected Mercedes to sell its F1 team off and stay on as an engine manufacturer only, as translated in :

No. He has everything he needs at Ferrari. And also because Mercedes will probably pull the plug at the end of 2018. I think (Mercedes) will go for the titles this and next year and then the board of directors in Stuttgart will decide to sell the team and stay only as an engine maker.

Jordan insinuated that Mercedes can only go down from here, as they’ve won an insane 54 F1 races out of the 65 that have happened since 2014.

Naturally, the Mercedes team didn’t like this. Instead of the usual bland statement refuting Jordan’s wild claim, Wolff opted to get a bit more specific, telling :

Monaco is a place where people like to party and it seems like somebody did a bit too much of that! The reports are completely baseless and reflect nothing more than the mischievous speculation of one individual.

Mercedes has firm contracts for its participation in Formula 1 until the end of 2020 – and is currently in discussions about the next competitive cycle with the sport’s new owners.

This reads like the F1 version of “You’re drunk, Eddie, go home.”

Now that’s how you handle a ridiculous viral quote.

As snow falls outside my window, now is a good time to remind you all that there is a right way to drive a Subaru: on the limit at all times, sideways. Above is the late ripping the tarmac rally Tour de Course back in 1993. He’s at the wheel...

The First Race Of The Acura NSX GT3 Was Unbelievably Good
In digging through the results a bit further, one surprise sticks out: the brand-new Acura NSX did something that Ford—with their mounds of effort and cash—with their new GT last year. The NSX GT3's first race ever—the grueling —ended with an incredibly respectable finish after relatively minimal drama. Normally, new...

Here Is Your 2017 Rolex 24 Hours At Daytona MEGA ÜBER Gallery
The 2017 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona was my first time covering a 24-hour race. A massive field, a giant track, 20 cautions, and a million pit stops. Endurance races are not for the weak, whether you’re on a team or covering it. Conditions were insane. It was cold and...

As a sign of the variety and manufacturer support of current sports car racing, I would like to point out that to win the top GT class at the over the weekend, Ford had to beat teams from Porsche, Ferrari, Corvette and BMW. And that only accounts the top of...

Some Glorious Weirdo Made A Twitter Account For This BMW Race Car's Crotch Belt
The anti-submarine belt (or “crotch belt,” since it goes between your legs) tops of the list of car parts I hope never, ever become sentient. Yet someone made a Twitter account for exactly that part of the No. 96 Turner Motorsport BMW M6 GT3 over Daytona weekend. I’m disturbed, but...weirdly...
