NASCAR Driver Austin Theriault Released From Hospital With Back Injury After Crash-August 2024

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Austin Theriault sustained a compression fracture in his lower back following , team Brad Keselowski Racing later announced via a press release:

Theriault underwent a comprehensive CT scan of the upper body, which showed a 10-percent compression fracture of the lower back. Theriault was released and will travel back to North Carolina where he will follow up with an orthopedic specialist for further treatment.

The wreck occurred early on in the 146-lap race as teammate Tyler Reddick made contact with the wall, cutting down the track and into Theriault. The No. 29 truck of Theriault turned straight up the racetrack, making head-on contact with a wall that reports was not protected by a SAFER barrier.

THERIAULT

Theriault left the truck under his own power before being moved onto a stretcher, and was transported to the local University Medical Center by helicopter for further observation.

The team reported that no further updates on Theriault’s condition are expected today.
