German luxury automaker BMW recently unveiled the 3 Series (G20) facelift globally. This mid-life update has brought a redesigned fascia, a new infotainment setup, four new colours, and mildly updated powertrains to the sedan. That said, this new 3 Series is likely to be introduced in India sometime later this year.

The 3 Series facelift gets new slimmer headlamps with ‘inverted L-shaped’ daytime running lights. This setup is reminiscent of the all-electric i3 sold in the Chinese market. In addition, the sedan features reshaped front and rear bumpers, while the M Sport trim comes with distinctive and sportier bumpers. Besides this, the standard 3 Series models get 17-inch alloy wheels, whereas the M Sport versions come with 18-inch alloy wheels.

With this update, the 3 Series is available in four metallic paint options — Skyscraper Grey, Brooklyn Grey, Frozen Pure Grey, and Tanzanite Blue. Meanwhile, other than the M Sport package, the brand has also introduced an optional M Sport package Pro.

As a part of the mid-life facelift, the 3 Series comes with the BMW Curved Display. Based on the eight-generation iDrive interface, this setup consists of a 12.3-inch driver screen and a 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen. Not to mention, the cabin gets newly designed air-con vents and a new drive selector lever. The three-zone temperature system control is now standard too.

Regarding the powertrains, BMW has tweaked one of the petrol engines to improve responsiveness. Besides this, it has extended the 48V mild electric assist system to its six-cylinder and diesel engine lineups. The eight-speed automatic gearbox is now standard across the 3 Series range, while the Steptronic Sport unit is optional. Then, BMW is also offering the xDrive all-wheel-drive system in the top-end models without additional cost.
