Nice Price Or Crack Pipe: Supercharged, 500-Horsepower BMW 540i For $35,000?
Nice Price Or Crack Pipe: Supercharged, 500-Horsepower BMW 540i For $35,000?-July 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:10:19

We had our second straight Crack Pipe vote yesterday, with the getting a 44% Nice Price vote. Today we're going to stick with the supercharging theme, but in a pricier package.

The 2001 was quite the factory hot rod, with a 32-valve V8 making 282 horsepower. The price tag was about 52 grand back then ($62,000 in '09 bucks), so $35,000 for an example that's had the full Dinan supercharger/suspension/brake treatment could be totally reasonable… or not. looks to be in nice shape, although we prefer an exact odometer reading to the vague "low miles" statement made by the seller. It's even covered by a factory warranty until 2010. 500 horsepower in a 3,800-pound car sure would be fun, eh? Nice price or Booth Number Two?

At $3,900, Will This 1997 Saturn SW1 Run Rings Around the Competition?
Today’s Saturn is the antithesis of another GM brand, the recently resurrected Hummer. Let’s see if this plastic-bodied wagon’s price makes it synonymous with good value. Watching the votes for yesterday’s tally in real-time was fun as it jumped back and forth between those in its favor and those...

Manual Transmission Returns to Some Mini Models for 2023
Manual transmissions are an endangered species. At our last count, there were that offer a stick-shift option. And that number seems to get smaller and smaller. The 2024 Chevy Trax Just Had a Major Glow-Up
Let’s be honest and say that the hasn’t been the most memorable vehicle to come out of GM. I’ve driven one, and it was like licking an envelope with bad-tasting glue: you remember it for the bad taste it left in your mouth, and you hope you don’t have...
