Nice Price Or Crack Pipe: Wizard Of Oz Tin Man's '69 Cadillac For More Than $9600?
Nice Price Or Crack Pipe: Wizard Of Oz Tin Man's '69 Cadillac For More Than $9600?-October 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:10:20

There's no end to the choices here, even after 57% of voters went with "Nice Price" on the yesterday. Today we're going to explore the value of fame in a car, in this case a '69 Cadillac Fleetwood- a cool machine in its own right- that was once owned by , the man who played the Tin Man in The Wizard Of Oz. The last time it went up on eBay, the $9,600 top bid failed to meet the reserve, so it's apparent that the seller feels the Tin Man connection to be an extremely valuable one. That's apparent in his selection of photographs; when the car itself isn't as important as its intangibles, you shoot the photos with the sun behind the car and your family posed in front of it, throwing in a single shot of the hood emblem for good measure. Well, what do you think? Cool car, interesting past… but worth over $9,600?

The was once the most fearsome creature on the planet, but that didn't stop it from going extinct. Today, has its Canadian resurrection, and ‘Busa power makes it just as formidable. Sometimes things that have been thought to have gone extinct show up unexpectedly, proving their obituaries premature. Yesterday's demonstrated...

Diogenes the Cynic wandered ancient Greece looking for an honest man. You, on the other hand, need search no further than to find a Fairlady. Nissan Motor Company has, over the years, made some very tasty cars. It's important however not to confuse them with Nissin, the company which has,...

13-Second Regal for $2,000
The five-second rule says that's how long before something dropped starts picking up the nasties. Today's Buick does the quarter in 13 seconds, but even though it's kinda' nasty you can still pick it up. There's an old adage that's brought out and dusted off in times of drought- if...

If a Porsche is too plebeian for you, a Lotus too languid, if even a Modena is too mundane, then has a Noble idea that's just for you. That exclusivity comes at a price, however. The voting on yesterday's was tighter than the ass-pinching seats that car carried. In the...

The Magnificent Seven is a remake of Kurosawa's violent classic The Seven Samurai. In a similar vein, today's Vauxhall-powered Caterham is a remake of an iconic Lotus, but it too may be magnificently violent. Yesterday's was at one time magnificent, but to this day it remains far from pretty. That's...

The is the most lustworthy European hot hatch forbidden to us Yanks. No journalist has dared put all 305 hp of its front-wheel-drive madness down on red, white, and blue soil. Until now.
