Women have only been legally allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia since , but now that they are in the driver’s seat they are quickly been making up for lost time. Now, we can add Reema Juffali, 27, to the list as she sets out to become the first Saudi woman to compete in an international racing series in the Kingdom.

Juffali, , has already begun making a name for herself by making appearances in the Formula 4 British Championship. Now, she’s adding to her repertoire by joining Jaguar Racing as the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY VIP driver as the series prepares for its first race of the season in Diriyah.

Because British F4 is considered a ‘national’ series rather than an international one (even though people from all around the world can compete), her debut as an eTROPHY driver will make her the first ever Saudi Arabian woman to compete in an international racing series—and the first to do so on Saudi Arabian soil.

The Jaguar I-PACE eTrophy is Formula E’s support series. She joins other names like Alice Powell as a VIP driver, so-called because she isn’t contesting the entire season.

An electric SUV is a massively different machine to conquer than an open-wheel feeder car, and Juffali has expressed a little surprise at her practice runs in the I-PACE. It will be interesting watching her compete against some of the series’—and even racing’s—seasoned veterans. After all, she only has about a year of racing experience under her belt.

We Finally Found Out How Fast A Gutted Tesla Model S Is At Pikes Peak
Blake Fuller’s is being called “the fastest production electric vehicle” to ever race the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb after finishing the event with an impressive sub-12 minute time. Let's Just Turn All The Diesel Volkswagens Into Race Cars
Volkswagen is about to have a lot of its diesel cars sitting around after the massive , and naturally, one wonders what to do with them. I have an answer, and it’s the same answer I have to most things: just take them racing. Remember the TDI Cup, Volkswagen’s SCCA-sanctioned...

Everyone say congratulations to Jalopnik’s own , because at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb this past weekend he and his team beat the course’s front-wheel drive record in that insane-looking Audi TTRS. In all my years at racetracks around the world, there’s one button I’ve never pressed. But this weekend, I pushed it, and I pushed it, and I kept pushing it until I could push it no more. Here’s how it went down. It’s VLN4, the fourth round of the (at...

Subaru's 600 HP Isle Of Man STi: Inside One Of The Fastest Sedans On Earth
Subaru’s factory-backed driver and madman for four-wheeled vehicles not once but twice in one week. The lovely folks over at Subaru had me out to the Isle of Man to take a close look at the car. I can tell you they didn’t just build a car—they built a weapon....

Porsche's New, Possibly Mid-Engine 911 Le Mans Racer Might Be A Turbo: Reports
When Porsche announced its new racing 911 , they curiously didn’t take any photos of the side profile. Now that side profile photos have leaked from a test day at Monza, eyewitnesses told that the car isn’t just rear-mid-engined, but also likely turbocharged. The first side profile photo of the...
